Alvaro, are you taking 10 mg of prednisone?

Hello @alvaro50, I would like to add my welcome to Connect along with @colleenyoung and others. My PMR is currently in remission but in both occurrences when it was active I also had pain in my hand, fingers and ankles. I was started on 20 mg prednisone for both occurrences and it relieved all of the pain I was having shortly after taking the dose until the next morning. I would wake up with minor aches and pain until I took my dose of prednisone for the day. My first time with PMR took 3 and half years to taper off of prednisone. The second time with PMR took me about 1 and half years to taper off.

Carpal tunnel syndrome can also cause pain in your hands and fingers. Do you keep a daily log with how much pain you have when you wake up and what dose of prednisone you are taking for that day?

Hi @alvaro50, I had PMR throughout my whole body, from the neck down, everything hurt. That went on for a number of months, then I started getting other symptoms, which was diagnosed as Giant Cell Arteritis. On 40 mg of prednisone, most of my pain went away. I was taking prednisone about a year and a half. I do have osteoarthritis in my shoulder and that still hurts. I'm wondering if you have arthritis in your hands or feet, plantar fascitis or carpal tunnel syndrome, as John suggested. Have you spoken to your doctor about your pain? My rheumatologist told me to take acetimenophen for my shoulder. I wish you the best.

I also began having pain in my hands and fingers. It was so bad that I could not use my hands until the prednisone kicked in. My rheumatologist said it is inflammatory arthritis. I do not understand the connection between PMR and the arthritis, but rheumatologist put me on hydroxychloroquine for the arthritis, stating there are better ways to manage the arthritis than prednisone. I have been on it for 3 months and it is definitely helping. I am hoping that as the PMR clears up, the hand issue will also clear up.
