Difficulty swallowing
I have metastatic breast cancer and this past week I have been having a very difficult time swallowing anything bigger than a small pill. It eases up when I take my pain meds at night but worsens during the day and it makes it difficult to eat. Have a message into my Dr just thought I would ask here. Thanks and God Bless. Maria

If you have a sore throat, could it be covid? When I had that, it was so painful to swallow just my saliva. If not that, have you had radiation? My right side up to my lymph nodes were radiated causing the right side of my throat to swell. In that case, it was VERY painful when a pill would get lodged in my throat because I could feel it 'stuck' on the right side. I took a lesson from my elderly father in law and started swallowing my pills with apple sauce. Last radiation was 3/7/22 and it has only improved (swallowing pills) about 2 or 3 months ago.
If my answer doesn't help, then it could be helpful to know what treatments you have already been through? What treatment are you in now? Any additional info that could help someone in a similar situation to answer your question better would help. I hope you get some good answers either here in this forum or from your doc.
@mglinkhart, just checking in. Did you get any answers from your doctor? Have you swallowing issues subsided?
No answers. They can’t feel anything nor did they see anything on my pet scan. It is still there the feeling that something is there but not as bad. It’s not like a sore throat it like something gets swollen and makes it hard to swallow.
@mglinkhart you may want to consider going to a gastroenterologist and having an endoscopy. They will be able to see in your esophagus and what might be going on. My husband had swallowing problems & had his esophagus expanded. Things are good for him.
?? Candidal esophagitis??? As your provider.
Ok
Thank you.
