Mastoiditis: What treatments did you get? Left untreated?

Posted by agis14 @agis14, Aug 28, 2022

Hello, for about 2 years now I’ve been dealing with dizziness and headaches. I’ve yet to see the neurologist but I did have an mri and ct scan throughout those years. When I asked for labs for the neurologist’s reference, I saw that in the mri that I had “mild right-sided mastoiditis.” I don’t recall being made aware of this nor treated for it, and I’m concerned just from what I read about untreated mastoiditis. Since I know about this now, is it too late? I do feel like my symptoms are getting worse since then, but it’s been 2 years. I don’t know what to do or if I should acknowledge this.

Thank you Colleen.
I just realized this was a possibility when I was reading an article about chronic sinusitis that doesn't resolve.
I would appreciate any questions to ask an ENT. All I have come up with is surgery as a solution.
Also, do you have any names of ENT's that are well respected in Tucson AZ. I want to go out of network. I have not been happy with my other specialists within network.
Thank you for writing to me.
Happy holidays:)

Hi @rocknrobbn, I don’t have any physician recommendations. Did you see the suggestion from @koleke about looking into an otologist?

Koleke, why was an otologist the right choice for you? What questions would you suggest the Robbn think to ask?

My ENT did not have any more answers for me after treating me for a year. He acknowledged that I needed someone with more education in specifically the ear. Her questions will be specific to her symptoms so I can't advise her on that. Two trips to the otologist are all I needed to fix my drainage. Good luck!!!
