Worried, suspicious lesions found: Thought I was cancer free
I completed breast cancer chemo in October and found out this week that I have two suspicious lesions. One is on my spine and the other one is on my rib. I am scheduled for a PET scan tomorrow. I devastated to say the least...thought I was cancer free. Can anyone share any advice? Honestly don't know how I will handle another cancer diagnosis. Chemo was so hard on my body. Was hospitalized twice with chemo related issues. SO WORRIED

Plastic surgeons told me it is still an option.
WONDERFUL NEWS! 🌸 so happy for you.
Hi @anjalima @windyshores and all,
I just got a call from Radiologist that my 2nd spot of 5.6cm is benign. and 3rd spot 2.8cm is DCIS. so now I got 2 DCIS - 1.2cm and 2.8cm in 2 different locations.
I am not sure if there is opportunity to do the lumpectomy instead of mastectomy with 2 DCIS >5 cm away from each other. will check with Surgeon.
This is the best news I have heard since Nov.
So happy for you! Making your holiday a bit merrier. 🌸
That is great news and thank you for telling us! Let us know if you are having a mastectomy or other surgery.
Hi pinkbean.
I recently had a bilateral lumpectomy. My left breast had DCIS and my right breast had 3 “areas of concern”. I think 2 of the areas were labeled DCIS and one area was “suspicious” and considered pre-cancerous. I still had a lumpectomy and all three areas were removed.
Afterwards, the right breast blew up like a balloon with fluid because so much material was removed.
It’s been 6 weeks since the surgery and my breast is much smaller now and I’m more comfortable.
I see my surgeon again this week and my 2nd-opinion oncologist and radiation oncologist next week to talk about post-surgery treatment options.

Great news about the second lesion being benign. Did you decide where to do your surgery? Lumpectomy or mastectomy?
@tctredwell1
Thanks for the reply. I consulted 3 breast surgeons and all of them said mastectomy because of 2 dcis in same breast.
I had single mastectomy on 16th. It went well and I am recovering. Waiting for the surgery pathology results this week and then meet with oncologist. I just saw you have 2nd opinion oncologist, I may consider have 2 oncologists to consult the after surgery treatment plan. Thank you
@colleenyoung
Thanks for the guidance.
I did single mastectomy with the more experienced surgeon. It turned out she was an excellent surgeon that different nurses said I am in good hands. One nurse referred her friend to see my surgeon too. I am recovering well. Thanks
Wishing you a speedy recovery. 🌷
Tomorrow I see the second-opinion oncologist and Friday the radiation oncologist. I’m terrified of radiation - well, not the radiation actually, but the possible side-effects. I have a lot of questions and a lot of anger. (I almost feel sorry for the doctor!)
Take good care of yourself and keep me posted.
