What do you do for Neuropathy itch?
Good morning everyone. I am desperately in need of help with what is called Neuropathy itch. I have SFN (small fiber neuropathy) and am a medical cannabis user for pain. I don't know what to use for this itching. It appears that it reaches through several skin layers. No matter how much you scratch you make it worse, not better. Once you start itching, it's over....your are stuck scratching.
Have you tried certain baths? Oatmeal? I have a steroid cream called Triamcinolone Acetonide. Not exactly a wonder drug. Is there a better one?
The itching results in a terrible level of anxiety. I try to run away from it and cannot. It reminds me of summer in Minnesota when the mosquitoes launch their attacks. I am female with "O" negative blood which they just devour.
Even if you have a solution for other than neuropathy, please share and I will happily do the research. The stress of isolated living and a form of depression that is about our global community also creeps in.
The only thing that works right now for food is gelato.......Salted caramel, if you please. I hope you are all well and blessed with good health today.
Chris

I was put on gabapentin and duloxatine. It did the trick. I was on that cocktail for 2 years, went off it, and the itching has never come back.
What were you diagnosed with that caused the itching? TY
Neuropathic itching.
Back problems I had back surgery for my disk but that did nothing
Does anyone have neuropathy that may be caused by occupational exposure to xrays. I have neuropathy w no apparent cause.
Gabapentin works for itching and sleep in my case.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO ALL
I take the supplement Quercetin with some Vitamin added in it. It’s is a powerful natural antihistamine. And I also take a Food Histamines blocker sold on Amazon, 15 min before I know I’m going to be eating a food high in Histamine such as raspberry, avocado, walnuts, dates, apricots, strawberries (there are more but those are the foods highest in histamine).
Ur itching will decrease a lot if u do this but incase of any spots of itching, use Sarna lotion over the counter. It’s amazing how well it works.
Hello Chris and all who have issues and pain with neuropathic itching.
Back in August I started using antihistamine's to help my itch and it was amazingly helpful. No itching. I stopped taking the Claritin generic last month; about six weeks ago actually. And in the last week the itch is back. I'll go back on the antihistamine and see if it helps. I only have this one area on my elbow that started up again. I was icing it last night and this morning, which is unusual for it to rear its head in the a.m. But it was BAD last night. Okay, thank you. (BTW the Dermeleve stopped helping me early on...bummer)
Hi there,
Thanks for the update. I know the Dermeleve doesn't last more than a few hours. Yet when I was desperate, I was glad I kept a tube in my purse.
I do have some good news. The Dupixent injections have completely taken care of the itch from wherever it initiates. I still know it is from inside. That doesn't mean I can't get surface issues but for now, I am feeling sane again.
Happy New Year. Please be itch-free.
Chris
I take a homeopathic remedy, Sciatic Nerve Relief by Newton Laboratories. Helps a lot, plus CBD oil, Innovative CBD; Acetyl L Carnitine and Alpha Lipoic Acid.
I've been taking regular ALA and would like to switch to R-ALA. What brand are you using?
Thanks very much.
