Breast Cancer and complementary or integrative therapies

Hi All, I am newly diagnosed Stage 1, IDC, tiny tumor, 42 year old. Does everyone elect to have surgery as step 1, does anyone try to fight the tumor on it's own? I'm E+, P+ Her2-Neg, MMI is 8. My hormones have been out of whack for a while and I neglected to take care of me, very hard menstrual cycles, very high stress, emotional trauma too, but I eat well and exercise. I'm a month from being diagnosed and I've upped my supplements and am eating really healthy, juicing, praying...etc. I need to block my estrogen, what are you guys doing for that? Also, any discussion on natural ways to get rid of a tumor? Anyone hear of Crybolation/Cryotherapy to freeze cancer cells - it's so successful in other countries especially for people with my diagnosis but very hard to find here in USA. I truly believe God gave us everything to heal our bodies and we can heal our cells and our life is in his hands, the conventional cancer path already has took me down dark tunnels that I don't feel are right for me... just looking for something more natural, would love your thoughts if you are like minded thinker and believer. God bless you all! XO

My sister refused surgery, chemo and radiation and went the natural, alternative route. She connected with like-minded women, bought into a lot of pseudoscience, and spent a lot of money on charming, predatory “doctors” who did nothing to make her well and she died She had a small, grade one, ER+ tumor and would have been cancer free within a year with conventional treatment. Instead she lived six years while the cancer spread throughout her body. At the end she regretted her decision. There is no painless natural cure for cancer. If there were, every cancer patient would choose that option. Maybe someday. You can, however choose a healthy Plant-based diet and get plenty of exercise to complement standard therapy.

Estrohalt is both an estrogen blocker and an aromatase inhibitor. I looked it up and it is used for estrogen dominance (too much estrogen). If it were effective in reducing estradiol below detectable levels, wouldn't the side effects be the same as a pharmaceutical AI? On the other hand, I would like to know what a doc (integrative or not) thinks about the effectiveness of this for cancer, if it does not reduce estradiol below the detectable level. Does it still help reduce risk?

@windyshores what is an undetectable level? No one had a baseline of my estrogen level. My oncologist when asked how they knew it was working he stated ‘we take it for granted’. When I had him order up an estrogen test it came back ‘<10’. How number do you get as undetectable or does the report say ‘undetectable’? I’m still following up on my estrogen levels but not getting very far. Is there a specific test I should be asking for. My oncologist and primary care doctors don’t seem interested. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Wow, this post was almost three years ago! I actually removed myself from this group since I went all natural and didn't want to stay on a conventional thread. I'm almost three years post diagnosis and I'm doing great! My tumor is still there but nothing has really happened to it, it does want to come out and I believe my good choices will push it out of my body soon. Which would be awesome, it's starting to break through my skin. Dr. would say this is bad but healers say this is what the body is made to do, never doubt your body's own ability to heal! I have chosen acupuncture, meditation, healthy eating (no meat, no caffeine and I try very hard to do no gluten and no dairy - but those are my weakness and give in from time to time). I cut out everything for over six months and followed Dr. Morse. I never felt better in all my life. I got rid of other ailments too like anxiety, restless legs, skin rashes, muscle achiness... I strongly do not believe in chemo or radiation they are counter intuitive to healing. My tumor was a wake up call to take care of myself, find a healthy approach to life and prioritize me! My doctors have tried to scare me, the last one told me with no tests or labs, first time seeing me ever and said I had stage 4 cancer! HA! They are really desperate to make money off of me! So far I've proved them all wrong. I'm still here and thriving! I hope you all find people who believe in you and your body! Our body is miraculous, it's a machine that just wants to keep us alive, feed it well mind, body and spirit! XO

I know about three women who did the same as your sister and died after a few years or more. And a few friends who did surgery, but none of the conventional treatments and they are alive after 30 years.

I couldn't go fully on alternative road as some of the people I know died too fast. A balance between conventional and alternative works for me

That’s interesting. Removing the cancer seems to me like the most important step. I wish she would have agreed to that at least. It was strongly ER+ and grade one, so she probably could have skipped chemo.

May I ask which type of bc you have with regard to hormone receptors and metastasis?

Actually, she did go to Hope 4 Cancer in Mexico. And her tumor did start to push through her skin as yours has. But it also pushed into her bones, spine, liver and lungs. And she developed more tumors pushing through the skin on her chest by the time she died. I wish you well and hope you will have the outcome you hope for. But I hope someone else will benefit from the facts as I know them. Best of luck to you!

Yes. I try not to judge, but keep wondering why one of them who I knew refused the surgery. She said that mastectomy is brutal. Lumpectomy wasn't offered. Two children, 12 and 10, are without their mom. I understand refusing chemotherapy, radiation or hormonal treatment, but the cancer needs to be removed.

I did alternative treatments till my surgery for about 2 months and my tumors shrunk. One from 2.6 cm to 1.6 cm. The other one less. Still taking my Chinese herbs tea, not eating after 5 pm, mostly plant based die. I would like to go back to blue scorpion venom, but one bottle is about $700 and not covered by insurance.
