My dermatologist prescribed Diazapam and so far it seems to be improving. His logic is that there are lots of nerves running through the scalp and this could help. I have no other scalp issues.

Diazepam is the generic name for Valium, a benzodiazepine. That class of drugs is used for anxiety. Sounds like your dr. thinks your scalp itching is due to anxiety.
