Radium223 (Xofigo) treatment for stage four prostate cancer
I am about to start treatment with radium 223. Has any one out there used this particular treatment? If so, what side effects have you experienced? How effective has iy been for you? Thanks for your help.

There are U tube videos saying it does affect so wait 3 months My oncologist still wants me to do bone scan Monday to be sure nothing there
My oncologist at Mayo clinic Florida is suggesting radium 223 for me as well. My recent PSMA pet scan found several bones, including a rib, and the lower spinal cord infected with the cancer. He is telling me that radium 223 is only affective against cancer that is in the bones, so if you still have lymph nodes with cancer cells or other soft tissue, this drug will not work for them. I am beginning to wonder if I should have chemo first. Please feel free to offer suggestions.
Enzalutamide chemo in a daily pill
Hi I just went through five treatments of chemo my cancers in my ribs my sternum and my scapula and then they found a new spot on my lumbar it was aggressive cancer that’s when they told me I’d have to start chemo that was at Cleveland clinic in Cleveland, last year I had six treatments of radiation and was doing hormonal therapy which was working fine till this new spot popped up on my lumbar ,I’m a snowbird I come to Florida for the winter and before I left the palm they told me that the chemo is working but I would have to stay on at the rest of my life or till I couldn’t tolerate it I came down to Florida To the Moffitt Cancer Center, the doctor told me I can’t stay on chemo for the rest of my life he took me off of chemo and they’re getting ready to start the radium 223 I was thinking just the opposite of what you were that I should’ve had the radium 223 before the chemo I kind of thought chemo was one of the last resorts but I don’t know which one’s right my doctor in Cleveland says you shouldn’t have radium 223 unless you have bone pain I have no bone pain but the doctor down here says that this is the way to go so I’m waiting to start this treatment any day now they have to take me off my prednisone before I can have it because I’m on Lupron and prednisone for the hormonal therapy I really don’t know what to tell you who’s right but I had five treatments of chemo and I’m ready to get off it I’ve got neuropathy in my toes I can always go back on chemo the way I understand it you can only do this treatment one time and it’s supposed to be pretty tolerable, if you go on YouTube type in xovigo Which is what that is there’s a good video on there by a doctor that tells you all about it watch some of them maybe that’ll help good luck Dave
Sorry for not mentioning it, but I am currently on Zytiga (abiraterone), and have been for the last year and a half. Sadly, it is not working as well now as it had been, my oncologist does not feel that enzalutamide would be of any benefit in view of my current therapy.
So what choices now other than radium and why
Thanks Dave! Your response was very helpful! I wish you the best as well. Obviously, we’re fighting the same battle.
