Jansen clinical trial ADT & Erleada and surgery
I am 75 years old and a year ago my biopsy indicated that I had NM advanced aggressive Gleason score 9 prostate cancer and my medical team at UCLA recommended a Jansen clinical trial which
Included 6 months of Lupron plus Erleada ( a experimental drug that I think that I got and not the procebo drug )then surgery then 6 more months of lupron and Erleada. That has now been completed and it has worked good so far as my testosterone is 0 and my PSA is now 0. I wonder if anyone here is also in this clinical trial or have been treated with lupron and Erleada in conjunction with surgery. If so what have you experienced?

10 years ago, I had HDR Breaky therapy at the same hospital. I had urinary problems for a year afterwards. And still have issues. I am on. Erleada as well. Almost no. Testosterones reading at all. (15) but I do have active prostate cancer cells, and my PSA jumps around. It was up to 30 and now it’s back down to four. I changed my diet and also added lots of minerals and vitamins and prayer. Plus I had radiation again on bone cancer in my leg caused from the prostate cancer cells migrating. the Erleada seems to cause no problems. The radiation helped as well. At the moment I have three months off from any type of treatment. What I seek is a cure, not a treatment.

A charity foundation pays for the Erleada in full. Thank God for them.
My diet changes were to severely limit, red meat and processed meats, deli meat, and breakfast meats. I do eat more dairy than I should but I have an increased fish and chicken. Plus more salads and almost no sugar. No cakes no ice cream no donuts. Oil and vinegar type salad dressing. A teaspoon of lemon juice, and a teaspoon of olive oil every morning.

1 ReactionThanks for the guidance. The diet change can do no harm and maybe some good. My Gleason score before treatment was 9. Was yours that high?
My PSA at treatment time was 4.7. It took them for years to diagnose that I had prostate cancer because my prostate was normal and size and texture, and my PSA was usually just barely over four. I eventually convinced and urologist to do a biopsy. I had one Glisan at nine and 13 over 10, some scored 14.. but 10 is the max number they used.
I was in pain for two years, urinary issues for a year. And still misdiagnosed. Ughs.
I immediately started Lupron and bicalutimide.
Thanks for your response. Everyone is different but we all are in an uninvited battle. I have wonderful smart experienced doctors at UCLA but I get different prognosis from them. I sorta average them out and that gives me guidance of what to expect. Best of luck to all of us.
I do the same thing; my last issue resulted in me getting seven different opinions. Three were the same and four differed. It was helpful to go that route, thank goodness for Medicare.

I’m sorry I don’t know the answer to that. I do know I would research it and I get several opinions. Mine is not causing any discomfort. I’m going to research yours and see what I come up with in my mind. I’ve now become firmly convinced that most hospitals and cancer care centers are designed for treatment, and not cures. Places that secures are a little bit harder to find!

It is Castrate sensitive but one day will be castrate resistive and then Enzalutamide
