Tapering

I'm curious how people manage to taper 1mg at a time. I only know about pills that are 2.5mg, 5mg, 10mg and so on. How do you measure 1mg?

I just tapered my prednisone dose from 9 mg to 8.5 mg. Previously, when I tapered by 1 mg. , as directed by my rheumatologist, I always had a relapse. Now I am tapering by .5 for 15 days and then another .5 for 15 days. This is working for me so far.
