Possible Vaginal Cancer
So I just recently found a pretty big mass inside my vagina, before hand I was having my period for (almost) 2 weeks, once I found the mass I immediately booked an appointment to see gynecologist, as i found the mass (8-24-22) and I go to see the gynecologist the 31st, my nerves are completely shot and I cannot keep myself together as I am so scared to even go. I am embarrassed that I thought my periods were normal for me. (I've had irregular periods my entire life) I turn 25 next month, I didn't know where else to go to talk about this, my husband won't talk to me about it, as I want to talk as in the possibility of cancer. He tells me not to think the worst case scenario, but my mind instantly goes there. And I can't help it because my gut feeling is telling me that it's cancer. If anyone can give me any tips on composing myself until I see this doctor in 6 days, im completely nervous about the exam itself as well.

I got stood up! If it's meant to be we will meet again. Had my surgical exam and biopsies yesterday. Preliminary results are showing radiation as first choice of treatment. I have a consult scheduled for tomorow. I am grateful and amazed how quickly they are moving
A week and a half ago, I woke up in the middle of the night and had to pee, I went to the bathroom and when I wiped, I noticed a considerable amount of blood on the toilet paper. I wiped again to make sure it was coming from my vagina, and it was. I had a complete hysterectomy 11 years ago when I was 45. When I woke again at 6am, I still had some bleeding, and it went away after that. I called my gyno’s office that morning and got an appointment two days later. She didn’t see anything but she did scrape the walls of my vagina to have it sent to the lab. I found out today that I have atypical cells and they discovered I have HPV. They scheduled me to have a vaginal colposcopy on January 3rd. I’m stressing out, thinking it could be vaginal cancer. Has anyone else had the same issues? And if so, how did it turn out?
Welcome, @joni66. I can imagine that you're stressing out. I moved your post to this existing discussion that @savypaige25 recently started on the exact same topic:

I did this so you can read the previous posts and connect with other members like @jeanadair123 @savypaige25 @naturegirl5 @jabrown0407 @rainyp who know what it is like to have a suspected case of vaginal cancer and the horrible wait period to know more.
I myself have had atypical cells and a vaginal colposcopy. In my case, that was the end of treatment that was necessary. I hope this might be the case for you too. The colposcopy wasn't hard, but the wait times between appointments and follow up were really hard. How do you distract yourself?
I had uterus in 2009, recurrence in 2017 in the vaginal cuff and breast cancer in 2016. My husband had prostrate cancer in 2003 recurred in 2011 and lung cancer in 2017.
Cancer is not a death sentence anymore I consider myself and my husband to be living proof, the best advice I can give you is to be proactive do what you think is right after all it is your body, get the all the tests that are available to you to put your mind at ease, don’t let anyone make you feel like your a Hypochondriac.
A friend of mine once told me it is better to know and treat than to not know at all. Everyone gets stressed and concerned every time we have a test and we are waiting for the results but we take a deep breath and move on.
You will make it through this. Stay in touch through this site and if you should need further input from us know we are always here. 😍
@colleenyoung Thank you so much for placing my post in the correct place! It’s been difficult distracting myself. I’ve been trying to talk to more friends and getting together with them to help keep my mind distracted. And I drank two glasses of wine the other night but that just gave me a headache. Lol I have also been focusing on buying more healthy foods and eating less sugar. Even if it turns out to be nothing, at least I’ll be eating healthier. 😊
How are you doing, Joni?
I’m hanging in there. I’m currently dealing with my dog that possibly has nasal cancer, and I have to take my son for a scan of his kidneys and bladder on Monday. My plate is definitely full.
Thank you so much for your words of encouragement. I really appreciate it. ❤️
UPDATE- After 5 weeks of external radiaion and 5X chemo. Except for extreme fatique, constant pelvic pressure and a really bad chemo treatment that put me out week of week 3 , Im going to say I tolerated this. My last BrachTherapy was Friday ( 5 treatments in 3 days) and I am feeling pretty good ( a little sore ) but am more then a little anxious on if I should expect side effects over the next couple weeks. Doc was a little vague, but I can imagine everyone is a little different. MRI and follow up will be after the New Year.
Wishing everyone a happy holiday , lots of joy , and most of all health to you and your loved ones
Hi, how are you doing? Have they figured out what's going on, or if you gave vaginal cancer yet?
