Please make sure that the biopsy does staining for HPV on the tumour, as this is very important when making decisions regarding treatment. Our pathologist missed that and we had to request they pull the samples for staining. All I can say is be educated, and ask many questions. Outcomes for HPV+ SCC to tonsil as a much higher survival rate than non HPV+. I wish your niece all the best and that she will get the help she needs in a timely manner. There will be scopes, CT scans, PET scans, biopsy, more scopes before the treatment plan is determined. Stay strong. You’ve got this!
