Statins caused my PN in the feet and now my fingertips. It was a slow progression since about 2006. I am convinced Simvastatin 20 mg was not the right statin. I discovered that it is the least effective statin and perhaps the most likely drug to cause PN. I recently switched to Rosuvastatin 10 mg with hesitation. I recently read that Rosuvastatin has a prolong time of 14-17 hours. I just started to take Rosuvastatin 10 mg every other day and niacin every day. I will continue this until December 24 when I will get another LDL test. My LDL was 154 August 8th and when I started Rosuvastatin 10 mg on August 9th it went down to 73 September 10. Now that I have cut Rosuvastatin in half for the last 7 days and will get a blood test for LDL in 3 weeks it will be interesting to compare the results.
I have had the same issues with neuropathy in both feet,I changed my diet completely & lost 121 lbs I was taken of the statins,Blood pressure meds completely. The down side is I have Type ll off all diabetic meds very well controlled HBA1C 5.4 two a-fib surgeries very successful off blood thinners just a baby aspirin & Gabapentin daily.Still the neuropathy is my worst nightmare. Thinking about stem Cell treatments very expensive some say it works & most Doctors say it doesn’t any advice I will take it.
Has anyone experienced poor circulation, neuropathy pains in legs from taking Statins. I recently had neuropathy pains after my back went out recently. It was controlled by my doctor Pregasafe & Neurobine Forte & physiotherapy. But am now being placed on Statins to control my Cholesterol at 238. However, I am concerned it will aggravate and make the leg pains return. I have trip to make in 3 months with lots of walking, so I am very concerned.
