Post Covid/Long Covid: Anyone else experienced bladder issues?

Posted by emmabell @emmabell, Nov 11, 2022

Had Covid on Oct 1st. Most symptoms were gone after about 10 days but I still have a headache and heart palpitations.

Around Oct 21 I started getting bladder issues. I need to pee frequently, day and night, but very small ammounts, and I have bladder pain especially as it fills up (well, as it ”thinks” it fills up).

No bacteria found.

I did some research and found this can actually happen after Covid and is called ”Covid Bladder” or ”Covid Cystitis”. But this is not very known (yet) in my small country so I don’t get taken seriously.

Anyone else experienced bladder issues? I heard it can be treated with Loratidine and Famotidine but I have no idea what dosage?

I do but I’m not sure if it’s from LC or just getting to that age, I’m 51 now

I have been getting the early symptoms of a bladder infection a couple times a mth. I drink an 8oz cup of Cranberry/cherry juice mixed with 8 ozs of water everyday. This has stop the early symptoms from happening.
But that is just me. Everyone is different. It’s something to try and it’s very healthy for you.

Yes Emma, Covid onset Oct 14th. I have to pee about every half hour and almost daily have that uncomfortable feeling like I am getting a bladder infection. You can get home test strips plus I had my Drs. office check. I found Cystex to be the best solution for me. For one it won't turn your urine bright orange : ) It also has an analgesic which helps with the discomfort. I think it has antibacterial properties, as well. OTC Best Wishes, Renee

Oh, Cystex also makes a cranberry solution like one of the folks mentioned earlier

I have had similar experiences 20 minutes to30 minutes having to go . But I have had that issue for awhile prior to covid.. I think mine is actually from a pinched nerve in my back . After seeing a chiropractor I’m usually good for awhile. Spinal injections also help my issues. Multiple Herniated disk in my lumbar area

Not incontinence.
Burning feeling after I pee and feeling like I have to still pee when I’m done.

Hey Emma, I will be 70 next month so, sure, I am familiar with galloping to the bathroom in order to avoid wetting my pants : ) This peeing every half hour is new to me since covid. I would love to do a cup of cranberry juice daily BUT even the unsweetened has 31 grams of sugar. The cystex liquid I told you about has sucralose in it(sorry, I forgot to tell you!) and I DONT do artificial sweeteners! That's why I take the tablets. I am blown away by how many post covid symptoms I have in common with what I've seen online. I didn't even look until I began having aural migraines. I only had one before covid and now have had 5 in just a few weeks. Struck me as peculiar so I dropped in on mayoclinic.org to see what other folks had to say. Going in for an adjustment with my chiropractor next week. It's alway amazing how many ways that helps! Best Wishes, Renee

Your chiropractor may have suggestions or a natures way nutritional store may have suggestions on the cranberry alternatives that be safe for you! Hopefully the Chriopratic adjustment helps. Yes I had more headaches after covid myself. I noticed more edema on my neck and back after I had covid . The swelling sure doesn’t help either. With headaches or the constant urges to pee . Soaking in epson salt before bed sometimes helps me slow down the times you have to get up in the night

I have had bladder changes since covid. I don't have an infection. I'm a nurse, had many as a child, and know those symptoms. No burning. I do have to go when I have to go with some resultant leakage.

Here's the thing, I've had long COVID for 2.5 years. I have CRPS which spread from COVID. I ended up on Prednisone for the last two months and everything that was a problem since COVID, went away with such a strong anti-inflammatory. I know am sure it's all from inflammation everywhere which is what long COVID is. Inflammation that won't go away and can (and does for some of us) affect everywhere in the body. About to go on a to inflammatory diet. Should have done it long ago but haven't had the energy to eat healthy food for a while. Living alone, it's usually a quick sandwich. Inflammation. Look at all your symptoms post COVID and see what you can relate to inflammation. If you had it before and it's worse post COVID, it's not your age suddenly. It's post COVID.
