Can one stop taking prolia after the first shot?

It is really a comfort to know that I am not alone, although I am so sorry that we are experiencing these problems. I started Reclast this year as a transition off of Prolia, but I have had two teeth break off at the gum this year and I do not know if I have any options for addressing this situation. Can I have the roots removed while on Reclast ? I have an appointment with an oral surgeon to explore what I can have done. Does anyone know how long Reclast remains in your system? I hear that it remains for 3 to 5 years.
Once we start these Bisphosphonates, it seems there is no way to escape the fallout.

I have had 3 shots of Prolia. I’m also on Xeljanz for Rheumatoid arthritis. After my last Prolia shot in April , I developed a gum issue that required extraction, then an inflammation, they MRSA and Purpura. My platelets are normal. Since Prolia and Xeljanz are both immune suppression drugs, my concern was my immune system compromised causing all these health challenges. I want to go off of Prolia, but want a relay drug to keep me from fractures. I went on Prolia for osteopenia not osteoporosis.

I had my first Prolia shot in August 2022 in North Carolina and am due for my second shot at the end of February 2023. I am what is termed a "snow bird" I spend summers in North Carolina and winters in Florida. Now that I am back in Florida, I am getting concerned that I cannot find a doctor in central Florida to give me a shot. I've talked with Orthopaedic doctor, Primary Care doctor and an OB/GYN. None of them can provide the shot. Now I'm wondering about the consequences of not getting another shot at all. I am very active 68 year old woman in very good health, other than being told I have osteoporosis. I don't feel any different and still can lift and move items upwards of 50 pounds without consequence. I may have been bullied by friends and a doctor in North Carolina to get the Prolia shot in the first place. Now I'm thinking from what the NC doctor said, I must continue taking the shot for the rest of my life! I'm shooting for 100 years old an that's a long time yet. Do you have any advice for me?

The specialists who are clinically trained in Osteoporosis are only Endocrinologists and Rheumatologists. Try calling those specialists.

Where are you in Florida?

Your insurance company may be willing to help you find a doctor who can give you the Prolia injection.

You can also use the Prolia Finder https://www.proliafinder.com/, which will tell you the doctors you can get the injection from, but not if they take your insurance. You'd have to call them and ask.

Amgen, the company that makes Prolia, has a help line, and they can able to help you, too. Amgen Assist at 1-866-264-2778.

greyfox914 is in general area of Ocala. I would be willing to go to Tampa/St Pete, Gainesville, Jacksonville or Tallahassee. However, I'm still not certain I want to continue with Prolia. I will follow up with sheilad1 advice and seek information from endocrinologist and rheumatologist. Also the Amgen helpline. Thank you all for response.
