Hello and thank you for getting back to me so quickly. This whole episode started with an uncontrollable weight gain. Gained 35 lbs in two months without changing my eating habits. Normal bad cholesterol all my life went up to 250 I tried various changes in diet. Only ate fruits and tiny bits at a time. Was dehydrating them as well so I could have as a snack. Over the last year I have lost 15 of those lbs. But believe me adding the 35 put me to the overweight category. Went from 140 to 165. I am usually a very active person. Did Pilaties daily and gym few days a week. Now 10 leg lifts on each. Side creates massive gastric build up. Even my fiance says there is really ni rhyme or reason to this today i had a half a can of chicken noodle soup. I was in pain before i ate and it increased after i ate that little bit. Blood tests show low b and d but B is not below 200 so they won't provide b shots and the vitamins trigger a 12 hour heating pad session.
I need help finding a second opinion physician. The ones i have found don't acknowledge the Mayo Clinic findings. I would like to rule out the problems that match my symptoms.
Hello @lindac15
From your last post, it sounds like you have been to Mayo Clinic previously? If so, what were the findings at Mayo?
Teresa
No I have never been there. I do however know the reputation and have searched the internet for any possible guidance. The Mayo Clinic information was the only place I found who stated there were alternative reasons for what I am experiencing. The first gasto doctor recommended gallbladder removal because he could not seem to find anything else. The surgeon said it was inflamed but thats all. Said he looked around while he was in there and did not see any obvious problems.
Thanks for that clarification, @lindac15
So the information you received from Mayo was from their website. From what I gather the drive to the Mayo facility in Florida must be too long of a distance for you, is that correct? From what I understand some hospital systems have a connection with Mayo doctors and are able to get opinions for their patients. You might call the Mayo facility in Florida and see if any of the hospitals in your vicinity might have that kind of agreement with Mayo.
I'm going to tag @lisalucier to see if she would know more about this.
Teresa
Yes it is over 3.5 hours to get there and feeling how I do that can be very tough. 7 hour round trip and appointment. Thank you I will try that as well
Hello @lindac15 and welcome to Mayo Connect. I see that this is your first post and we are glad that you have joined us.
It sounds like you are very uncomfortable now and you are not getting much medical assistance. Many of us have been in that place and know the importance of persisting with the medical community in order to get your questions answered and to get to the root of the problem. It is a terrible feeling not to be well and not to understand the cause, isn't it?
Just a few questions, if you feel comfortable sharing more: Have you lost much weight since this problem developed? Have you ever thought about keeping a journal of food and activity to see if there might be some triggers to your symptoms? This might be helpful.
I would encourage you to seek a second opinion and bring with you a journal of when your symptoms seem to be at their worse.
Will you keep in touch with us and let us know how you are doing?
Teresa
