Feedback on Linzess for Irritable Bowel-C or Chronic Constipation
I have both of the above-conditions. Took Linzess, (called Constella in Canada) and got terrible stomach pain. Feeling desperate and thinking about trying it one more time. Interested in hearing what kind of experiences other people have had with linaclotide/linzess.

Could you cut back on the dosage? Maybe that would help. We're all different and if it produced results, maybe you just need less of the medication.

I haven’t had any problems but I find taking just Linzess doesn’t work well.
Have taken it but got diarrhea for about an hour each morning. Hasn’t helped my intestinal problems really.
Latest update: never filled the ibsrella and now have script for Trulance, unfilled. Still Senokot. Waiting for apptmnt with new gadtroenterologist 'cause also upper g.i. problems to deal with. If I was a car, the whole system would just be replaced!
I take Constella daily. It does help but takes a couple of weeks. Best wishes.
Yeah that's the problem with laxatives. Just when it seems like they won't work, they do......
Interesting that you're taking Amitiza and Motegrity. Motegrity does work like a stimulant laxative, only much milder (I think). Did the Amitiza by itself not work?
I ask because I'm taking Linzess and it's not working. How long before you saw results from Amitiza?
Thanks so much. If Linzess doesn't work I'm going to try Motegrity.

Amitiza works alone sometimes, but I want to be sure that it’s going to work on a more regular basis. Motegrity works more on the motility. It still is not perfect but it has definitely cut down on episodes of SIBO.
I find that aloe vera juice, purchased at Walmart by the gallon, has relieved a lot of my constipation. It may not work for you but it worked for me and it would be worth a try.
nothing at all works for me - lifelong problem with constipation since childhood. only thing that works (like a dream) is Miralax. you can adjust the amount so that it works for you. i take double the recommended dose. one capful in the a.m. and one in the pm. sometimes if things are "slowing up" I take a heaped capful - and if too loose then I decrease it or skip one dose. you cannot take too much its an inert substance - just throw it into some hot tea or coffee and you won't even know it is in there. I have been taking it for about 8 years now - ONLY thing that works. I was taking a half box of laxatives at a time before. Terrible cramps. The miralax works every morning - like a charm - and mostly after that I am "done for the day" once in a while it gets a bit 'out of whack" in that I have to go again or get a bit backed up - but I just adjust the dose accordingly and I am back on track.
I took Linzess for a year. The higher dose was too high! Finally was changed to 72 milligrams. I had to be careful not to take it on a day I was going out to be sure I wasn't going to have a problem. If it worked well, I skipped a day. Linzess stopped working for me.
I have chronic constipation with a pelvic floor diagnosis. That was all in Michigan.
I am now in Wisconsin at Mayo. I cannot get in to a gastroenterologist until late January..
In the meantime, miralax, stool softeners, ducolax and senakot not helpful. I did purchase an organic orange psyllium powder online which is helpful. I take it with water and crystal light, which helps the taste.
I've not taken Trulance.
