My robotic had to be stopped as the cancer was too close to the Apex and I would have been made incontinent requiring a future operation to fix it

Also the could not intubate me so 6 anesthesiologists worked on getting a infant tube in me for 40 minutes while one hand pumped my breathing and surgeon twiddle his thumbs.

3 months later I had 40 times radiation which got the cancer. Put on Zolodex injections for 2 years In fifth year cancer metastasized to my L2 lumbar, and spine Had 1 inch cancer nuked off my L2 and now back on Zolodex for almost 2 years PSA was 1.2 down from 26, but last week it was 4,22

Getting checked out Bone scan and maybe another MRI

Robotic is good if you get full investigation of what could happen before hand Radiation is excellent and simple too

Thank you for your reply. I was not aware that robotic surgery can be stopped mid way. Is there any chance that some cancer may still be left behind even if the prostrate is removed completely. How safe is the surgery for my age of 72 years. Wishing you a very long & healthy life & May god bless you always

What about radiation considering your low PSA and possibly less side effects? Would you be comfortable with Active Surveillance and testing PSA every 3-6 months?

Thank for your reply. I am leaning towards RP surgery as I think it is better to get rid of the cancer. If I choose radiation & there is a reoccurrence, I loose the chance of surgery in future & have to be dependent on radiation forever

Many thanks your reply just wanted to check if you underwent CT & Bone scan before the surgery to check if cancer has metastasized. Also what are the chances of Nerve sparing in case of Robotic Prostratectomy surgery. Wishing you a very healthy & long life & May god bless you always

No, my surgeon (Mayo) did a trans-perineal biopsy to find the cancer (which he estimated was 30-40% of my prostate), & recommended surgery ASAP (which he did the old fashion way). He was unable to preserve sexual function (ED) but was able to avoid incontinence (thank goodness). After the surgery they checked nearby lymph nodes & found cancer cells (metastasis). Started ADT & antiandrogen therapy.
Still fighting the battle 11 years later. Scheduled for a bilateral Orchidectomy Wednesday. Tired of getting the ADT injections!
Thanks for the “well-wishes” !! Hope your fight with it is successful! Blessings!

During surgery they take lymph notes and biopsy to see if and cancer When I later did 40 days or radiation the last 5 were "Rapid Arch" which does the margins

Before it all I sent blood to 4kscoretest dot com which showed I had aggressive pc.

Today I fight metastasis in spine 5 years later I wish they never took me off Zolodex injections which I am back on after radiating my L2 lumbar

PSA on rise again 4.22 from 1.2

11 years. Wow! i would welcome that for the love of those that need me and for whatever is left for me to do in this life.
i have a bilateral Orchiectomy (with implant replacements) scheduled for next week at Mayo.
My PCa has metastasized to my left iliac and right femur. There is a question regarding pulmonary prostatic metastasis that will get answered tomorrow following lung biopsy.
If no pulmonary prostatic metastasis then it's radiation and antiadrogen therapy.

It is evidently clear that we are all dealing with unique manifestations of PCa and responses to treatments/therapies. While we may share some commonalities in the above we all share one thing; "we are not fully in control of our journey or our outcome".

Never loose sight of your blessings and be grateful for each and every one of them.
Prayers and well wishes for all.

Melcanada,

Tough war! You fight your battles valiantly and you set an example of courage for us.

Your name will go in the prayer bucket that we are making this weekend.

PS: Don't forget St. Jude, the patron saint of hopeless cases. He has interceded for me in the past with our Lord and Savior.
