Neuropathy: Anyone have any experience with gabapentin?
I have loss of feeling in my feet and tingling sensation. My doctor prescribed gabapentin. I read the side effects and decided not to take this med.

If a drug works for you and side effects result is less pain and more relief, that works! My body told me when it had enough via potential side effects turning into this drug is killing me now. Nothing is for ever. Neurotin…aka gabba.. was my hero then became zero. No hard feelings, happy to be off it with the help of indica and whole plant therapy with medical cannabis. I understand not everyone can go my route. I made it my goal to get off all the meds I was on. My doctor was worried I did it too fast. Dilaudid, to Tramadol, one at a time. Pain is not a contest, if it is I want to come in last! Same goes with telling the horror story that brought me to pain and meds. My memory is fine now, but I choose to forget, and that works for me very well!
My husband has been on gabapentin seven months. It is the only thing that has helped his poly neuropathy. He has had no side effects. His neuropathy limits his mobility. He can’t walk without a rollator, not even one step.
Today he told me his back has been itching for two weeks. I looked at it and it’s a rash with raised bumps. He has always had red spots all over his back, since he was young, but this is in addition.
So, three questions.
1. Has anyone here had their back covered with tiny red dots for years and did your Dr tell you want it is?
2. Really hoping the new raised rash is not from his gabapentin, since it’s been seven months since he started taking it and it’s the only thing that has given him pain relief. Has this happened to you?
3. He started cbd gummies and oil three weeks ago. Could the rash be from that?
Thanks for any response.
Interesting that it started after TKR. Where do you experience the neuropathy? I have OR in my thighs and buttocks but also in sale side foot
that started two months after TKR and gradually got worse. I do have back issues that accelerated at the same time and resulted in recent back surgery which did not resolve PR. Hard to tell which one caused the PR.
I took Gabapentin for a month and had to stop. My gums turned red and became inflamed. The rash I had wouldn't be diagnosed until last year. I was diagnosed with Discoid Lupus. Which is related to the skin. Does he have any other rashes on his skin or scalp?
Thanks for your response.
No other rash. But I notice him scratching his left bicep. No rash there. We do have very dry skin due to living in northern Canada and the weather just got very cold.
He stopped the CBD and took Benadryl yesterday. He is continuing the gabapentin. 300 mg in morning 300 mg afternoon and 900 mg at bedtime.
I hope your health improves and is manageable.
Nobody warns us what can happen when our bodies betray us.

Hi, I’m on gabapentin and it helps me a bit. I don’t think the rash could be from it since he’s been on it for seven months. But I’m not a doctor. I do believe that the CBD gummies could be the culprit because it’s soon after beginning taking it. I tried a spice, turmeric, which is natural and I broke out in a rash all over my chest. I know this sounds strange but I was told that olive oil would help the rash and it did. Once I stopped the turmeric and started rubbing the olive oil on my chest the rash went away.
Has a doctor ever told your husband if the rash could just be eczema? I hope he’s better quickly.
What is MSM? Does it effect seizures and GERD?
I have GERD and it doesn't affect me at all. I'm not sure about seizures. MSM is mostly magnesium and I believe sulfa. I forget exactly. If you Google it you will see the exact ingredients.
