Mozart ear
I realized when I was a kid that my right ear is a bit odd, but only recently did I learn that the famous composer Mozart had an ear deformity that looks extremely similar to my own. I read that this particular deformity was named Mozart Ear and it seems to be extremely rare, so there's not much information on it. I was hoping someone might know if this is the same "condition" that I have. Picture of my own ear along with Mozart's ear provided for reference.

@sbussnick, he's adorable. Congratulations on the twins.
It's uncanning how similar your son is to @jlyndall's son. I can imagine that you're worried about the future and want to monitor your son's health closely. Preventative medicine is good medicine. You might find this article helpful to know what to look out for:

I'm sure there are many other article online too. I agree with @callalloo that you can appeal your insurance company's first response.
My son has a very similar ear but as of 4 years old he has perfect hearing and never had an ear infection in that ear. So far so good even though several Dr's have had discouraging predictions in the beginning.
Very good to hear. Thank you!
Hi, my son also has this.
The drs in my area are not familiar with it. So I decided to do a little research myself. He is 7 and it doesn’t bother him just yet.
Hi, my son is 7. His ear is similar. I too am concerned as there is little information regarding this. But as of now he never had any issues from it. He did have a renal ultrasound done, that came back normal.
This thread is intriguing me. I wonder if Mozart ear only occurs in males. Has anyone ever met a female with a Mozart ear?
...gosh how would one know if both ears different , as we cannot see them, will have to have someone take a photo of each and compare! interesting! j.
I have it. Didn’t know I did till I read this! Used to make wearing some headphones very painful, but now I have Bluetooth hearing aids, so all good 😊 - for clarity, I’m female!
It is so encouraging to learn from other amazing people about such a rare occurrence
