Single Eye Person is Struggling
I am a 54 year old male with 10% vision in my left eye due to amblyopia since childhood. The periphery of the left eye has helped until I hit my 20's when I starting noticing the periphery confusing my vision in my good right eye. I have battled for 34 years with constant visual confusion. My concern today is that my vision is so weary in my good right eye, that I have developed visual symptoms I find hard to explain to doctors. Can someone relate to my experience?

Please see an ophthalmologist or an optometrist. Eye doctors are familiar with this condition and will explain what they can and cannot do.
I, also, was born with amblyopia. Doctors have explained that the brain rejects the double images our eyes are sending, The stronger eye begins to dominate while the other gets weaker. Eventually, you become dependent on just that eye.
Good luck to you.
I have strabismus since birth. 3 muscle surgeries - each 20 yrs apart . Left eye dominant - no visual disturbance until I had cataract surgeries. Now I have visual disturbances. I too have lower vision in my non dominant eye but once the new lens was implanted the visual problems began for me.
Very frustrating. Now seeing an adult strabismus specialist. They’re not many of them around as this is a childhood condition
I am 70 years old and has lived with amblyopia since birth I assume. I didn't realize I had a lazy eye until school age. Doctors said amblyopia is a condition which requires surgery before the age of 5, before the muscles are completely dead per say. Tried wearing a patch over my right eye to strengthen the muscles in my left eye. That was a disaster, as I could not see the blackboard in 1st grade at all, and on top of all that, I was teased by the other kids for wearing a patch. I was also very crossed-eyed and was teased and taunted for that as well. My left eye always dropped into the corner. Kids would ask, "do you see two of me?" I prayed that if I never obtained vision in my left eye, that I would be freed of the crossed eyed-ness! (if that's a word). Well in my teens, maybe around aged 14, my left eye began to straighten itself, however, whenever a picture was taken of me, the flash from the camera caused the left eyeball to drop back into the corner again. It would straighten up once the flash from the camera was gone. So I didn't like to take pictures with my eyes open.
To this day, I've always worn corrective lenses. My vision in my left eye has never improved. Vision in my right eye is 20/20 or better due to hard work, but I am clinically blind in my left eye. My driver's license is restricted to "daylight driving only", as the oncoming traffic light from other cars stymies my vision in my left eye since I still have my peripheral vision in it. I just wish there was something I could do to correct this, especially the night vision, because even with the corrective lenses, I still have problems seeing at night while driving.
Open to suggestions.
