Anyone else gone gluten and dairy free to help improve symptoms

It has been suggested to me and i have talked to people who havegone gluten and dairy free that has helped their symptoms. justlooking for anyone here who has and interested if it has made a difference? if it has could you share some menu's or give me some ideas? and how long did it take for you to see improvement? i have some general ideas on what to buy but looking for more before i head out. its been suggested to me because i have hypothyroidism which until recently has been out of whack, hyperplasia with possibilityof autoimmune gastritis, possible sjorgens syndrome and maybe lichen sclorus. im waiting on specialists to confirm but i have to wait for appointments which is so hard. its kind of like starting fresh. in 15 months of being sick i have gotten little help so im traveling 3 hours to boston where i can get better help its just hard waiting for these appointments.i am seeing a naturpath dr in a few weeks never been to one so not sure what to expect but i think he is better than who previously i have seen. sorry to ramble just hoping someone here relates tome and can help me out. thank you!

I eat gluten-free and find that it helps a lot. I seem to be ok with dairy as in yogurt, cheese and ice cream, but I try to limit it and drink Lactaid milk. I’m trying to be on a diet that may help slow down osteoporosis and deal with digestive issues simultaneously.
I too have found when mainstream doctors have just shrugged their shoulders, my functional medicine doctor listened and persevered to find answers. This has also helped my "soul".
I'm glad you said that. tomorrow will be my first visit with him.i believe its a 2 hr visit what regular dr gives you that much time? he is the one who approved my b12 injections while the other dr's ignored me. i'm really looking forward to my appt. with him tomorrow and what he will do.

That’s good news that “the functional medical doctor found answers” when you were dismissed by mainstream doctors. May I ask what were the “answers.”
@jip499. One of the situations was medications not working for a particular diagnosis. I had been put on larger and larger doses of various medication over a 7 year period without having the issue rectified. Through detailed testing we found I had a blood/brain barrier issue that was easily resolved with a supplement. After that, a minimal dosage of meds resolved the issue.
I have been lactose intolerant for over 22 years. At the time of diagnosis, I had been having awful diarrhoea for a long time. This cleared up when I stopped taking dairy products. I have tried to eat hard cheese...sometimes without problems. Mostly I need to leave it alone or face indigestion.
About 2010, i stopped taking gluten...and discomforts that I had soon after eating it disappeared. I make porridge with sorghum or finger millet or oats. It is now 12 years and on rare occasions I am able to eat bread made with wheat. I stress rare.
I am a Canadian who lives in Kenya where gluten free products are quite hard to buy. I experiment a lot. French Pancakes can be made with a mixture of gluten free flours eg, cassava , or gram , or rice, oats, millet, coconut or almond etc...or a mixture. If making pastry, you need to buy xanthan gum to hold flour together. It is tricky,to make. Good luck. It is actually fun trying new things and you feel so much better. Check the internet for an array of recipes. Mostly, I substitute ingreients in recipes I know. Best wishes.
I'm gluten-free, dairy-free, and also seafood free. The milk showed first, after the 5 of my son. Probably I autoimmune since childhood but was diagnosed with hypothyroidism at twenty. Probably was hypothyroid since childhood. I showed gluten intolerance after 1989 Tuberculosis seroconversion. I self-diagnosed intolerance in 2005 after genetic tests.
Things to know...almond milk is actually about a tablespoon of almond butter and one egg yolk worth of chemicals. I read the patents. Usually, I buy ready-made but it's expensive. When I make it I skip the egg yolk.
I use almond creamer too. I also make ice creams using a ninja Cremi machine,, regular and chocolate almond milk, and creamer. You can make all kinds of ice cream with it.
This forsaken system wiped out several paragraphs so I'm going to post now.
I had a colonoscopy end of September. ( Diagnosed w/ lymphocytic Colitis) I asked my Gastro Doc about lymph drain massage and Cranial Sacral. (My stool was healthy until I stopped)
He said that he had heard good things but that it wasn't his practice. My massage therapist passed away last March. I believe she saved my life. I have been prescribed Budesonide. I'm definitely taking a natural approach to healing before prescriptions to treat symptoms and not the cause.
