It is very hard to give up the idea of driving. My neighbour had a car and had an arrangement with a friend to be her chauffeur in return for the friend to have use of the car…she paid the insurance and repairs but the friend paid the gas….it was probably more expensive than taxis but definitely more pleasant and more personal. Sometimes there are community services available (which I use and the kindness of friends.) and the$ you pay go back into the service to help others

I am 87 and still driving in town.my only daughter lives 1/2 hour from here so I am not sure at this time what to do. I hate to give up my independence as I have no one close to help me
