Tongue Cancer: What are my treatment options?

My sister (26) has been diagonised with lesion in left lateral of the tongue. As per MRI:

MRI Neck/thyroid (Contrast) of 03-OCT-2022:
Results:
An irregular area of altered signal intensity is seen in anterior 2/3rds of left lateral aspect of tongue involving the intrinsic muscles. The lesion
measures ~3.6 x 1.1 x 1.8 cm in AP x T x CC dimensions. The surface of the lesion is flat with depth of invasion similar to tumor thickness ~ 1.1
cm. It appears hypointense on T1WI, hyperintense on T2WI/STIR and shows heterogeneous post-contrast enhancement. It is not crossing the
midline. There is no evidence of extension beyond the intrinsic muscles of tongue/invasion of floor of mouth/mandibular involvement.
No signficnat cervical lymphadenopathy seen.
The nasopharynx, oropharynx, hypopharynx & larynx reveal no obvious discrete mass.
The rest of the soft tissue spaces of the neck are unremarkable.
The parotid, submandibular and sublingual glands are normal in size and signal intensity. Both lobes of thyroid are also normal in size and signal
intensity.
The carotid vessels and jugular veins reveal normal flow voids.
Mandible and maxilla are normal in signal intensity.
Bony cervical spine and the intervertebral discs appear normal.
IMPRESSION:
MR features are suggestive of:
•Mitotic lesion involving anterior 2/3rds of left lateral aspect of tongue with extensions signal characteristics as described.
-Suggested: HPE correlation.

I want to know about the treatment process, surgery is the only way ? or we can have immunotherapy ?

I am sorry you have this tough road to follow; I was there almost ten years ago. I think Alpaca was too And here we are, ten years later.
You are in the best hands in this country That in itself should give you peace of mind.
It is going to be tough though. You will need all your will power, faith, love and perseverance

I really appreciate your advice ,strength and hope.I think am going to be alright I have been sober for over 30 years and that was one of the toughest things I’ve ever been through

Oh, wow, @sharique , this is a lot for a young woman to take in. There has been a mysterious rise in tongue cancer in young women over the last few years. I was about 60 when I had a similar diagnosis. It is very treatable though.

It's hard to get these results before they have been explained by the surgeon, if that is what has happened. Have they biopsied it? If it is a tongue cancer the usual treatment is to remove the tumour and replace the defect in the tongue with a "flap" from the forearm. It can work out very well. As far as I know, immunotherapy is not used on HNC cancers that have not spread or recurred.

Sounds as if your sister's lesion is localized which is a good thing. I wish her and you all the best. You will be relieved when you have seen the medical team and have a treatment plan.

As you know, I booked an appointment on October 17 at 1 PM at the mail in Rochester. I’m just hoping they have the right doctor that could discuss my situation. Most likely I have tongue or throat cancer but a large growth in the back of my throat I’m making a trip from Las Vegas Nevada, I hope I don’t waste my time and they have the wrong doctor in front of me. Who can I call or what number can I call to make sure the right doctor is there and will they except a biopsy that I bring from Las Vegas Nevada that I’m getting on October 11 can somebody help me with this?

Newly diagnosed cancer on tongue. It is a surface lesion in back of tongue. Dr. felt no hard tumor or lumps anywhere only sign is lesion Amy feedback and advice would be appreciated very unsure of what to expect thanks.
