Tooth pain in molars with esophageal cancer: Suggestions?

Posted by nancy090909 @nancy090909, Sep 29, 2022

My brother-in-law has stage 4 esophageal cancer and has finished two rounds of chemo. He says what is bothering him the most is pain in his molars, although he has a feeding tube. Has anyone else had horrible pain in their molars? Thanks for any suggestions.

Nancy, has your son been referred to dental oncology or an orofacial pain treatment specialist?

I don’t think so, but I will ask. Thank you.

My mom had this during chemo - I think it went away with Tylenol and magic mouthwash.

May I ask - were you first diagnosed with stage 4 ?

My brother-in-law was diagnosed with stage 4, he had no idea prior to that.

Keep us updated on the results of chemo. Do you know on what chemo he is on ? Did you discussed immunotherapy ?
I’m praying for him.

Yes! I just had a molar pulled last week. They couldn't save it. Excruciating pain two weeks in a row. Another tooth which was a root canal just fell apart. I hope that's the last. U8
