TIPS - Transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt - is a procedure for diverting blood flow away from the portal vein. A shunt creates an opening between the portal vein and the hepatic vein, which carries blood from your liver to your heart to reduce pressure in the portal vein. It often stops bleeding from esophageal varices.

I want to invite some members who have discussed their experiences with the TIPS procedure. @lcd, @marinab,@cybele65, @athenalee - Did you have the TIPS procedure before or after your liver transplant?
@arqui02000, What questions would you like to ask?
