@starfire777, welcome. I moved your question to the Ear, Nose & Throat (ENT) support group here: https://connect.mayoclinic.org/group/ear-nose-throat-conditions/

Several member are sharing about clicking and popping in their throat. See this discussion:
- What causes Clicking or Popping in Throat when Swallowing? https://connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/clickingpopping-throat-when-swallowing/

Can you tell us a bit more? Does your wife feel this sensation only in her ear or also in her throat? Has she been to see an ENT specialist?

I have a sound whenever I swallow, have had for many years - my daughter calls it a pop, but I guess it could also be called a "click" by some. It is fluid moving inside the ear when the eardrum flexes as I swallow. If not accompanied by pain, it's nothing to worry about. Especially if a doctor has ruled out problems.

Hi! It would be interesting to visit an ENT doctor, to first check that there is no problem in the ear that causes the click. If there is no problem in the ear, the problem may be related to TMJ/TMD (tempomandibular joint) over the years the amount of synovial fluid we produce decreases, sometimes causing creaking or clicking. A TMJ/TMD Specialist can be very helpful, talk to him about the possibility of myorelaxant plaque if your wife has bruxism or about the possibility of viscosupplementation, which is a technique of infiltration of hyaluronic acid in the place.
