Skin and scalp problems and loss of hair
Has anyone experienced scalp soreness and itchiness with some loss of hair? I was diagnosed with possible Discoid Lupus. The dermatologist is not sure because I do not have the exact matching symptoms. I have been using Clobetasol on my scalp for a good 10 years and recently a different dermatologist suggested trying injections of the same type of solution. She tried the 5mg which didn't help and so she then tried the 10mg solution. Immediately my scalp felt worse. There was almost a lump in one patch and then the hair fell out in that same area. My scalp has got worse since then and I have just woken up in the night with so much itching that I can't sleep. I have been using the topical Clobetasol again but it does not seem to be helping. Has anyone else had similar problems with their scalp. I am so scared of losing all my hair.

When I get real stressed out I can get sores in my scalp. I take orally 1000 mg of Lysine that seems to help. Once a day until it stops.
Hello @pollyanne . Has your hair and scalp issue been solved? I have been having itchy scalp and thinning hair for quite some time. I don't have a problem with chunks of hair coming out, but I do lose hair in the shower and when running a comb through my wet hair. Then when I blow dry it, more comes out in my comb. I have MS (in remission) and Parkinson's. I'll be talking to both my neurologist and my dermatologist. I've been taking biotin and zinc. I've used Nizoral shampoo and tea tree shampoo, shampoo with biotin and collagen, none made a difference. I hardly ever eat red meat, so I bought some iron capsules that claim to not constipate. It didn't help but maybe I didn't give them enough time to work. Any thoughts? Thanks.
I really am struggling, and secretly scared that I'm dying, slowly. I'm not sure if this is the right topic, but some very specific things have been happening to me.
Face skin patches and all over peeling/shedding never stops. Scalp peeling spots right at forehead hair line, thin skin barely scratch or run nails over and it peels off, continued weight loss, hair on head thinning 100% body hair loss.
I'm experiencing similar symptoms. Thinning around my forehead hairline, small white spots that peel, itch and bleed, losing all body hair, now even losing eye brows. I'm scared. Did you find any answers
Hi @kell4042, this must be so disconcerting. I moved your post about your issue with peeling and shedding skin on your face and scalp to this existing discussion:

I did this so you can connect easily with fellow members like @pollyanne @ainsleigh @mjgn8vyc @dsheahan1951, who have similar symptoms.

Kell, you mention in your bio that you have had multiple surgeries. That sounds like a lot of stress. I don't want to sound like I'm writing your syptoms off as stress, but it does sound like your body is going through a lot and stress can do crazy things to our bodies. Have you seen a rheumatologist as well as a dermatologist?
Thank you for the great info. Maybe I'm not navigating correctly bc I didn't find related threads. So ty. I get the stress thing but my majority of my surgeries were pre- 2015. Except full hysterectomy early 2018, and full gastronomy w jejuostomy late Nov 2021. So not sure, if I'm still body stressed from them or not. I did see dermatologist, she didn't even touch me, examined from a distance, gave me dx, went home looked it up. The name defined, picking/itching disorder, which that may be a result, but definitely not the cause. So that wasn't helpful. No rheumatology yet.
Have thyroid checked and go to doctor asap.
Unfortunately, need a referral from my GI specialist. Waiting on that, then realistically not get an appt for min 3 months. But am at least on a plan track. Will update when I get in
Hi - have you seen a dermatologist? I had started to lose my hairs years ago, with areas that appeared white and bald, and also what seemed like pimples on my scalp. Diagnosis was Lichen Planopilaris after biopsy. I went through scalp injections, topical lotions, Plaquenil and any other treatment I thought would help the hair loss. After 1[1/2 years, I stopped as I saw no benefits from the treatment. I too was depressed, and started to wear wigs and cute headcovers which helped lift my spirits. Wigs may not be for everyone, but something I chose.
Has anyone done PRP for hair loss?
