Tamsulosin and Lisiniprol

Good morning @lotsofpain, I've been taking Tamsulosin for many years for BPH. My doctor never mentioned when to take it so I always took mine with my morning BP meds for more than 5 or 6 years. Then one day I had to refill the RX for the Tamsulosin and I had switched pharmacies. The pharmacist went over the drug sheet with me as he handed the RX to me and told me it should be taken in the evening. So, I've been taking it at night since then and it has helped reduce the trips to the bathroom during the night for me and made it better for emptying the bladder. I think it might be good to make a quick call to your pharmacist or doctor.

My doctor just perscribed Lisiniprol for me to start taking to help with protein loss inmu urine. I already take Metroprol for high blood pressure and I'm worried this addition will be too much. Does anyone have experience with this medication?

Hi @lizzy123, There is a discussion on Metoprolol where member may be able to share their experience but I would think that talking with your doctor would be your best option.

I took Lisinopril for blood pressure for many years until I participated in a Mayo heart study and they changed my diagnosis a little and replaced the Lisinopril with Spironolactone.

Have you discussed your concern that adding the new drug worries you?

Thanks for the link on Metoprolol. I have been taking that medication for many years and it seems to work well. My concern is about adding this new medication ( Lisiniprol) . I am not seeing the doctor ( Nephrologist) who prescribed this until Dec but I am seeing my urologist in2 weeks. I guess I will wait until then and maybe he can help answer my concerns. I feel like maybe I'm being overly cautious but I don't want to add to my problems. Thanks again for your quick reply.

I take both Lisinopril and Metoprolol for high blood pressure too. I also take Clonidine and Amlodipine for high blood pressure. They have all worked very well for me with no side effects and my blood pressure is always regular such as 115 to 120. However, everyone is different. For instance, I can't take Tylonel. It bothers me. Everyone else takes it and is just fine. I would suggest that you talk to your Doctor about your concerns. He knows your medical history and your body's reactions to medications. You also might want to look up the side effects of Lisinopril and Metoprolol on the Mayo Clinic. (You can trust what the Mayo Clinic states as opposed to some unknown website.)

Thanks PML , It's nice to hear about your experience with these medications. I'm starting to feel a little more at ease. John your suggestion to speak with a pharmicist is a great idea. They are easier to contact and willing to give advise. I will do that today. Thanks again

Has anyone ever experienced continuous runny nose while taking Tamsulosin and no anti-histamine medication is able to stop it from happening?

I take Tamsulosin in the evening. I want the maximum impact from it to be at night to keep from waking constantly to pee. I take Lisinopril Hydrochlorothiazide in the evening because of its potential to make me drowsy and lightheaded
