Back Pain while taking Cialis after Prostate Cancer Surgery
Diagnosed on 3/28/2022, multiple Gleason 4+3’s. Had RALP on 8/23, all margins clear, catheter out on 9/1. Began Cialis 20 mg on 9/1. Took 20 mg 9/2 a.m. Very woozy rest of day; got dose cut to 10 mg. Changed to taking it at bedtime.
Last night, 9/6, lower back pain so severe that I could only sleep upright in wingback chair; lying down on couch or bed was useless. Managed maybe 3-4 hours sleep, not enough.
Will skip administering dose tonight and see what happens with taking it in the mornings.
Does anyone have knowledge/experience along these lines?
Can/Does the body adjust?
Is Cialis the best for promoting circulation and healing?
Thanks,
Max, age 72

I was prescribed 20mg of Viagra daily once my catheter was removed. No problems with that dosage and I am seeing benefits 6 months post-surgery. 20mg is the lowest dose for Viagra whereas 20mg is the highest dose for Cialis. The daily dose for Cialis is 5mg, I believe. You may wish to consider switching drugs or lowering your dosage even more if you think that is the cause of your back pain.

As @edo suggests, I too am wondering if the pain issue resolved with a lower dosage? Was the back pain due to Cialis?
No help here - my surgery was 8/23/2022. I began Cialis about 10 days later. My back pain goes back a decade. But, best of luck to you!
Folks, my apologies,
Now, I DO recall the one or two nights of severe back pain that would not allow me to get to sleep in bed. My only solution was sleeping somewhat upright in a wingback chair. This happened my first one or two nights when I was on the full 20mg Cialis. After this, approval was granted to cut the dosage to 10 mg. After that, things returned to normal.
And I did have back surgery at L5-S1 in 1992, but the back pain with the Cialis was nothing like my "typical" and lingering back pain.
Cheers!
