Too Much Clotting

They have no idea what’s causing them. I have not had Covid, thank God. I still have a chest tube x13 days. It’s draining profusely and I have no idea why my lung is filling with so much fluid. The Dr. finally did a cytology report and another ct scan on the fluid but no results yet. My pulmonologist is coming in tomorrow so maybe he might have the results. They’ve got to do something soon and they say I cannot be moved to another hospital yet. Which would probably be bad anyways because this hospital did the amputation, chest tube etc. Saturday makes 2 horrible weeks I’ve dealt with all this and my body is getting so tired. I am so out of breath I can hardly talk to some of my family on the telephone so they hand up early to save my breath. My Heparin was finally started back and my hand isn’t blue anymore, just the tops of my fingers but it’s slowly fading. I just want some answers and my poor husband is so exhausted.

Nete,

I'm so sorry that you're going through this. I clot too much due to a blood disorder and when I had a back injury many years ago, I had pulmonary emboli in my lungs.

I don't know which specialists are working on your case, but I would ask to have a hematologist be consulted. There are different blood disorders that can cause a person to clot too much. Also, sometimes different drugs can cause it. For example, the first thing I was asked was whether or not I was on birth control.

I do know that extended periods of not being mobile can also cause clotting in people that have back, hip, knee injuries and surgeries.

I'll be keeping you in my thoughts. I hope that they figure it out soon.
