Just asking if anyone on cabazitaxel was able to receive some financial help with the exorbitant copay? My insurance covered docetaxal, but not Jevtana. 2 cycles so far, no PSA check yet, so praying for good results, because the copay is over my means.
Thank you in advance for any advice
RSO, the copay costs of Jevtana (cabazitaxel) can be tough to cover. @leebeth may have some suggestions.
Many pharmaceutical companies have financial assistance programs. Often your care team can help you submit a request that can reduce the copay significantly. Here's a link to program for Jevtana

My husband had no copays for Jevtana, after his first cycle, which completely met his annual out of pocket on our insurance plan.
I would suggest checking what the annual OOP is.
We switched to Medicare in April, and then it was completely covered (with our secondary) as it is under Medicare Part B.

Thank you, but CareAssist is only for commercial insurance, not a Medicare Advantage plan. I did get in a wait list for PAN. Do many of the prostate cancer foundations' programs are expired. I just can't believe the cost and don't even know if it's working yet after two cycles. It's crazy , tbh. You have to be rich I guess. I will keep trying, however, and have reached out to both of my care facilities.

So two cycles completed and honestly haven't experienced the side effects I did with the docetaxal. Taking this as a good sign. An increased neuropathy in right foot, but no stomach upset or hair loss so far.
Still waiting on the next biopsy to be scheduled as docs are trying to figure out who is going to do it, gastroenterologist or radiational oncologist as the area is sacral/rectum and very hard to access. Anyone with similar experience?
RSO, I moved your question about rising PSA while on Jevtana (cabazitaxel) so you can reconnect easily with @leebeth, whose husband is also on the same treatment.
Does your oncologist have imaging scheduled after third cycle? My husband was on a cocktail of Jevtana and carboplatin for all 8 cycles, but one of his oncologists had recommended starting on Jevtana and adding in the carboplatin after 3 cycles if his scans warranted. His other oncologists felt his cancer was too aggressive and needed to add the carboplatin right away.
So, ask about a PSMA scan, and that should indicate your next steps.
I know that PSA initially rises due to killing off of cancer cells, so the scans are the best indicator.

So scan not done until after 3rd cycle? Carboplatin was mentioned just today by my oncologist at Wilmot. Still waiting for biopsy of "sacral" area to be scheduled by GI guy who can reach it rectally. Yikes! Very complicated. Thank you for the information.

PSA rise on Jevtana
So second cycle of cabazitaxel and PSA still rising. Has anyone experienced this and continued to 3rd cycle?

As you likely already know, rising PSA can mean many different things. This related discussion might offer some insight:

Has your oncologist ordered a repeat PSA test and/or further imaging testing?

Waiting to see if scan will be ordered as it seems warranted in my case. Hopefully it will be done before attempting 3rd cycle.
