GI issues: Anyone have high inflammatory markers with a reason?

Posted by johnbluffside @johnbluffside, Sep 9, 2022

I was dx with ibs . I have had intense pain for 3 years . Every test and scan possible. Only outcome was on my last lab my inflammatory markers were high. They did another CT scan of the abdomen and pelvis . Negative. Tried every rx , gut therapy, accupunture, FODMAP diet, etc nothing helps
Anyone have high inflammatory markers with a reason? Anyone have any luck with anything? Thank you!!

I don't know what "high inflammatory markers" are and I also don't know where and how to post my somewhat unrelated question so my apologies for this inappropriate location.
I am a 80 year old woman who is VERY thin, bent and twisted from kyphosis and scoliosis largely due to untreated osteoporosis with multiple compression fractures. I have attributed my VERY bloated abdomen (for about 3 years) to obstipation from a tortuous colon and abdominal adhesions.
Now a cardiologist and gastroenterologist suggest it is also due to my increasingly twisted body not giving my intestines anyplace to go except OUT. The gastroenterologist suggests it is time for me to try Motegrity as nothing else much works.
Is there anyone else in the Digestive group who has a somewhat similar situation with the same VERY bloated belly? The effect is the same, no matter the cause, but I am curious.
I'm feeling slightly desperate about my situation.

Thank you so much John. I replied to her post from 7/23/22.

Thank you for the reply, smezaael. According to the posts earlier this year about Mesenteric Paniculitis, it is a rare disease with not much research done.
I wish you well.

I have used Motegrity for constipation and had good results. My diagnosis is radiation enteritis which is different from yours.

Functional Dr did exam and said he feels it is SIBO. Put on strict diet for 4 weeks, & probiotic.

Blood work negative except, high inflammatory markers . Vit D a little low.

CT scan of abdomen negative.

Endoscopy and colonoscopy show ulcers. GI said not to worry about SIBO to many false positives. Put me on ulcer rx. Over time the PPI depletes calcium levels and can lead to osteoporosis. Do not like how they make me feel. Tried per his suggestion
Gut hypnotheraphy. Did nothing.

ENT feels it is high histamine levels. Allegra, protective pillow & mattress cover, hypoallergenic furnace filters & central vac doing nothing.

Registered dietician feels high histamine levels and high salicylates.
Tried diet & histamine rx did nothing.

Extreme sore throat, extreme back and neck pain. Feel like I am “sick” every day. Fatique, weakness, sun sensitivity for 3 years now.
They say pick a dr pick a plan …

Sounds to me like you don't have a diagnosis you like yet, but are leaning towards SIBO. If I was in your position, I would demand that my GI set me up with a breath test for at the very least hydrogen, and if available, for the other gases, and if positive treat with Rifaximin for 2 weeks. If you "get better" during rifaximin at least you know that a bacterial overgrowth is causing some of your issues ... don't know what to tell you about ulcers. Good luck.
