Neuropathy Pain at Night: What helps?

I have been struggling with neuropathy pain at night in one foot to the point that I could only sleep for 2 hours per night despite taking nerve pain medication. Fortunately, my podiatrist prescribed 5% Lidocaine patches. I only need to use one patch to control the pain so that I can fall asleep. I don't need to take the nerve pain medication or deal with its side effects.

5% lidocaine patches are with a prescription. Your PCP can prescribe them and the come in a box of thirty. My insurance covers them with a slight co-pay. I cut the large ones in half and put one in the back of my right toes and one in the front. I secure them in place with medical tape. Then I put on a sock and then wrap an ice pack around the toes to get some relief when I go to bed. These patches are supposed to last 12 hours.
