Generalized Anxiety and Lack of Focus

Posted by SusanEllen66 @SusanEllen66, Sep 7, 2022

I was diagnosed with anxiety disorder years ago. I also have Bi-Polar II.
Lamictal, and Zoloft are the drugs I have been taking for quite some time.
I have lost patience for reading books, and watching movies. I find my attention span to be short so videos have become my go to entertainment.
My ability to stay put on one thing, for an extended period of time has diminished so I jump from one project to the next before I should.
Someone suggested that it is stress related.
Anyone else here have this? Thanks

@SusanEllen66, you're not alone. Just by typing anxiety and bipolar into the search field, I found many comments and discussions on the topic. I think fellow members like @mamaw @sharon1962 @artlvr68 @pankaj @healthytoday @hopalongnm3 and more can relate to managing anxiety, bipolar and struggles with staying focused.

You're thinking that your recent deline in focus might be stress-related. Are you under more stress lately? Have there been recent changes good or ba that might be prompting this?

My stress level is through the roof now and has been for a few years. Just about all of it is bad. I could start a list but basically I’ve had a very unusual amount of loss, my health problems are confounding (rare), and like most people I am struggling with this post-COVID “new normal” society.
I’m almost 73 and live by myself. That is a treat! However, when the time comes that I can no longer take care of me…my son hasn’t expressed a willingness to help me out at all. He’s not thoughtful enough. So, I have to remember to take one day at a time.
