Beds

I’d sincerely appreciate knowing which beds you’ve found provide the most relief? I’m needing a new bed and I’d rather wake up in a little less pain, if possible.

We are all unique .. which means what works for one person will not work for another person. Some need a super soft bed and others need a rock hard. bed.

Unfortunately the best way to find the best bed for you is to grab your pillow and wear your comfy clothes and go to stores and lie on bed after bed. I suggest when you try them out to lay there for at least 10 minute in your most used sleep position.

Best of luck.

Hello @memachester and welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect. I have to agree with @fourof5zs and her advice. Comfort comes in many different forms for each of us so what one person may find supports their needs, another may not. That said, if you happen to share your bed with a significant other, I have heard good feedback on the Sleep Number beds. They allow each person to adjust their firmness to their liking and each model seems to have additional features (i.e. cooling, adjustable positioning, etc.) that you may also want to consider.

Have you heard of Sleep Number beds?

I have a Purple brand bed with both foam and inner springs. It’s pricey but very comfortable. It is on a moveable platform that allows me to raise the head and foot or lie flat. This allows me to find the most comfortable position. I find I cannot use a foam bed without inner springs. I have tried the strictly foam beds and always wake up with a sore back. Love my Purple bed. Worth a try unless you prefer a very firm mattress in which case the Purple bed might not be firm enough for you.

@willows sorry for the stupid question. But when you raise up a section does it screw up your fitted sheets any any other protection you might have on top of the mattress. I have adjustable based Tempurpedics and I hate elevating because of the fitted and under sheet protection sagging. Thanks!

Yes it does. I raise the bed smooth out the mattress and protector then climb into bed
In the morning.g I ooth out first then lay it out flat. It works well that way.

I have an adjustable Tempurpedic bed. I tried the Sleep Number…didn’t work for me. If I am in pain, I just adjust the the head or foot of the bed. I sleep pain free with this bed. I purchased the zip on sheets for my mattress. They don’t pop off.

I live my Select Comfort bed. It's the i8, FlexTop 360 FlexFit 2. If I could go back in time. I would've gotten the one where the foot of the moves independently on each side like the head does.

I have not heard of them but a lot of makes are not available in Canada. Too bad because I like to read the Consumers magazine but a lot of brand names available in the US are not familiar in Canada.

@momsys Sorry to bother you again, but could you send me a link or point me in the right direction for where you purchased those zippered sheets? I've searched and can't find it. I don't want to take a chance on purchasing a useless product. Thanks so much!
