Trouble sleeping after TKR: What helped you sleep?
I am a 60 year old woman 2 months post op from left knee replacement. I am having trouble sleeping. My knee feels like a square peg in a round hole. Tried pillow between legs, Tylenol and ice. Nothing seems to help.

I give you credit. That's like sleeping in the old business class on an airplane. I did that many times and just woke up stiff, when I could sleep that is. Hope you are better.
Time in my experience . Finally got sleep at 3 1/2 months
I took melatonin my niece gave it too me after first tkr …. I am 5 weeks out of my revision no sleeping started few weeks ago I starting taking melatonin…..now I might wake once or twice at night but can go back to sleep
It says you can take two but I only take one it works for me…. Good luck to you
I am better now. After 17 months of terrible pain I found an awesome orthopedic clinic that diagnosed my problem. They identified the reason for my awful pain on an ultrasound in just a couple of minutes. I had a rare extra bone on the side of my knee called a fabella bone. A very skilled surgeon removed this bone and I was better right away.
I saw many specialists who had no idea what was wrong but I just kept fighting for myself.
I hope everyone understands that you don't have to stay with the same doctor if you have a serious problem that isn't being resolved.
Thanks heyjoe for your well wishes.
Thank you for the pictures. They will help others know what a wedge is and how to position their legs. It looks like you are heading to a good recovery. Keep up the good work.
May you have happiness and the causes of happiness.
Chris
You're welcome Katrina. I looked up this bone you referenced and it occurs in 40% of people. Doctors often misdiagnose it as an osteophyte in the knee. Anyway, I'm glad you found and solved the problem!
Im 7 weeks post knee revision surgery. as far as that feeling, my other knee felt like it just never fit with the replacement. as it turned out, 21/2 years later, i finally got a revision. I was not comfortable during the day either. AS far as night goes, what i did when i first got my knee done i slept in a recliner so i couldn't move. I put bolsters around every part of my body. I hope you feel better.
How are you doing with your revision. I’m facing that and hoping it will help after 5 years of constant pain.
I am 4 weeks post tkr and have a sleep number bed with an adjustable base. I have found if I raise m legs and sleep with the back reclined somewhat I can sleep for 6-7 hours. I also fall asleep with ice on my knee. Range of motion is now 107 and still working to get more. It's definitely a process
