Metoprolol

Hi Joanne,
Here are my two cents: I have mitral valve repair surgery in January 2021 with a Maze procedure (ablation) for afib. I only had one afib attack in my life just before the surgery and never again since.
However, in September of 2021 I started to have irregular heartbeat issues, mostly PVC's. I took Metoprolol in various dozes, twice a day 25 mg; then just once before I went to bed; then increased it, then I decreased it until I got sick and tired of the whole thing and after clearing it with an electrophysiologist, I completely stopped taking it.
The PVC's are almost non-existent now; I may have one here and there. The electrophysiologist could not give an explanation as to why this happened. He said it was coincidence, but who knows.
I am not suggesting to do the same thing but you may ask your doctor about it.
Good luck and stay safe!

I was wondering the same thing if I stop taking my metoprolol after speaking to my doctor cuz I've been on it for almost 30 years I'm wondering if my irregular heartbeat would lessen and maybe even correct itself. Sometimes I think these drugs are meant to keep you having problems. I'm just lost a lot of faith in the CDC and big pharmaceutical companies etc I've lost a lot of faith in doctors too after going what I've gone through almost 3 years now. So much of the medical system in the mental health system seems like it's third world country. Absolutely terrible
