Internal tremors: What specialist helped you?

Posted by mj953 @mj953, Apr 1, 2021

I have had internal tremors for the last five months. My doctors are perplexed. I have had heart tests bloodwork all normal. I am scheduled for a brain MRI very soon. The first serologist that I went to said I had anxiety. My general practitioner doctor says now this is not anxiety you have a medical problem That’s why am scheduled for an MRI and a new neurologist.I also might add That I fell last July and really hurt my hip and back. As soon as I went to physical therapy the tremors started. Maybe I have a pinched nerve?

Four years ago I had thyroid problem which left me with daily episodes of internal tremors, body weakness, and anxiety symptoms.

The episodes are unpredictable. I can wake up in the middle of an episode in the morning or at 3 AM. These episodes can last hours if I don’t medicate. Regular sleep is impossible without medicating. This can go on for months then subside for weeks only to return.

The condition has left me unable to travel, avoid people and family events. A bad period can leave me in bed for days. Medications tried include Lexapro, lorazepam, gabapentin, topaz, and CBD.

My doctors include a neurologist, chiropractor, psychiatrist, and thyroid specialist.

No diagnosis or one pill solution found.

Hello @blarney2020. It doesn't sound as though you've received a diagnosis but have been treated using a variety of medications in an attempt to find relief. Is that right?

What medication(s) are you currently taking for these symptoms?

I have had for couple of years internal tremors . I feel like I have a motor running inside my body . It has gotten progressive worst . Every time I try to talk to a Dr . They look at me like I have 6 heads . What type doctor do I see for this . I found on connect that other people have this . I’m a patient at Mayo with several drs . Do I need to see neurologist if so what type or what specialist treat this . I have GI issues . I had cancer and the chemo cased me to be in hospital a week after each dose . I had lymphoma been free 10 years but left with a gut problem . Could this be causing this motor running in my body . gastro dr looks at me like I’m crazy so don’t think I need to see gastro . Need to find out what Dr specialist handle’s this problem . It use to just wake me up at night now I have it night and day . Would appreciate any guidance as to what to do or who to see . Thank you Jackie Woodward

Welcome Jackie. You're right, there are quite a few people discussing internal tremors. For this reason, I moved your question about what specialist to see to this existing discussion:

I did this so you can read the past posts and easily connect with members like @jenniferhunter @blarney2020 @dukeduke1 @mamacita @davehayward1 and others.

@jbw3, if you submit an appointment request to Mayo neurology, they will help determine which specialist to start with.

Check your white matter on the MRI. I have MS @ have internal tremors daily

White matter on the brain. The MRI will show this but unless they are looking for it they will miss it. I have had internal tremors for years. I have MS but your tremors are the same as mine
