Acetyl L-Carnitine and neuropathy

Posted by jdiakiw @jdiakiw, Aug 23, 2022

A retired dr. Recommended 3 grams daily. For my heart and diabetes. Have been taking liquid form for 3 months. Have reduced my insulin units from 15to 8units per day. Have stopped using blood pressure pills. Have markedly reduced neuropathy in my feet and am losing weight. All effects documented in research studies. Just google "acetyl l carnitine and neuropathy" or "acytyl l carnitine and diabetes". Or weight loss

Hello @jdiakiw,

You are undoubtedly pleased with the results you have experienced after taking L-Carntine. As I was unfamiliar with this supplement, I found some information about it on WebMD. Here is a link to that information, https://www.webmd.com/vitamins/ai/ingredientmono-1026/l-carnitine#:~:text=L%2Dcarnitine%20is%20a%20chemical,and%20many%20other%20body%20processes.

The first paragraph of this article states,
"L-carnitine deficiency. Taking L-carnitine by mouth or by IV is effective for treating L-carnitine deficiency caused by certain genetic diseases or other disorders. It's approved by the FDA for this use. IV products can only be given by a healthcare provider." It appears that this supplement is used and FDA-approved for individuals who have a deficiency of this substance, because of a genetic disorder.

Were you tested and found to be deficient in L-Carnitine? How was the dose of 3 grams determined?

These are a few of dozens of studies. dr strum has been prescribing it for dozens of patients. he recommends 3 grams liquid . which is what he takes I also read a paper using various grams. Some less, some more, and it was determined 3 gr was optimum. It has also helped my heart functioning and there is literature verifying that.

Way to go, @jdiakiw ! I have been finding ways to reduce my blood pressure naturally so that I can lower the dose of medications that I take. How is it making you feel?
