Can chemo treatment cause blood clots?
I reported earlier that I had stage 1a in the tail of my pancreas. I had a partial pancreas removal and spleen . I was told all the cancer was removed but it was suggested to do chemo as a precaution. I have had a lot of side effects but the latest appears to be blood clots in my lungs and legs . Can chemo , by itself , cause blood clots?

Chemo, cancer and surgery can all cause blood clots. You didn't say if you've started chemo yet. Eliquis was prescribed for my wife's post surgical blood clots and as needed during chemo.
Yes , I have had 3 of 6 rounds of Gemzar and Capecitabine

Here's some info about chemo and blood clots that you might find helpful

Excerpt
"Cancer patients, especially cancer patients who are receiving chemotherapy, have a much higher risk of DVT than other people. Patients with brain, pancreatic, stomach, and lung cancers are at the highest risk."
Walking is a good idea and you might ask about compression socks and blood thinners. What is your cancer team doing to help manage your blood clots?
They have me on a blood thinner . My cancer was stage 1A and was “microscopic “ per the surgeon. I personally think the chem , either directly or indirectly caused the clots . Seems like they should put all cancer patients on a blood thinner if they can tolerate it ( at least while on chemo)
