My purpose, my calling, is to empower and advocate for human beings living with chronic mental illnesses. It's not simply because I have one but more because I know what little support systems many of them have.
My work and the work, past or present, of my friends and peers is so important. Every human being deserves to know that they matter to someone and that they're so much more than a statistics.
Our existence is the reason many are employed! Sadly, not everyone who works in mental health should be doing so if they are incapable of treating patients and peers alike with dignity, respect and genuine compassion.
