Is anyone familiar with MOTILITY clinic or doctor?

Posted by mikejjb123 @mikejjb123, Aug 7, 2022

I have had daily nausea for nearly 4 years. Have GERD and colitis for which I get remicade/inflimax infusions. Went to my Gastro and a surgeon who told me to get an esophageal manometry, which showed medium hiatal hernia. Also, had an endoscopy w/bravo that showed nothing abnormal. Got frustrated and sent all my records to Johns Hopkins Gastros. who told me to go to a motility clinic. Why and what is that? Ideas or other suggestions. Nausea is ruining my life. Thanks Mike

I will go upstairs and get my notes and let you know.
He is at the Lutherville location. Dr. Khashab.
Do you feel I would be right in making the 9 hour drive for a consultation with him?
I have authorized all my medical records be released to him.

After 4 years I'd drive that far if I thought the Dr could help me. Good luck

Thanks so much. My daughter will drive with me. I have a niece and family in Annapolis so I will get to visit with them.
Just 56 miles away.

The supplements I got my mom is called Gut Alive. It's on Amazon. She's been on it for two days and says she is feeling a reduction in the acid burn and she's been able to eat solid food today without vomiting for the first time in a week. I'll update as she continues to take the supplement. So far so good.

On Dexilant now. Tried them all. Was also taking 2 famotidine (pepcid) pills a day. Someone told me to get off the famotidine, which I started doing yesterday. Had been on them for 4 years. Thanks!

Have you tried off-label olanzapine? Can be used in conjunction with mirtazapine, also off-label, to help with nausea and low appetite.

Hi,

I've had gastroparesis for many years and have seen multiple specialists. I live in Iowa and have gone to Mayo/Rochester and for my regular follow-up, I use Mercy GI in Cedar Rapids. I have an inflammatory component, so I'm currently managing with Prilosec and Linzess. No easy answers for this one and no real good ones. Having been on nutrition support, I prefer to manage with diet.

I cannot stress enough how much a probiotic has helped my gastroparesis. I take it with food and apart from medications if possible, about an hour apart.

I wish you the best.

Hi,

I try to rotate my probiotics, I have a degree in nutrition. This is a good guideline:

"A general recommendation is to choose probiotic products with at least 1 billion colony forming units and containing the genus Lactobacillus, Bifidobacterium or Saccharomyces boulardii, some of the most researched probiotics"

Cleveland Clinic (2018). How to Pick the Best Probiotic for You.

I take one that has at least 20 billion.

Best to you!
