Eliminating Foods for Neuropathy pain
I have tried doing without certain foods and drinks containing caffeine and have discovered it helps me to lower my neuropathy pain to a level that is tolerable. It is not easy to eliminate chocolate, tea, and coffee from my diet.

I went through The Wellness Way - https://www.thewellnessway.com/ While I have no food allergies, some foods caused inflammation for me (eggs being the biggest).
My thought is having a wholesome diet, fruits, vegetables, protein, small amount of carbs and sugars. Our body needs all different food groups but it is important to stay away from processed foods. If all we eat is sugar then of course our body will in an inflammatory state.
I find when I eat good healthy food with limited sugar and carbs my pain is so much better.

Basically I know your right although don’t expect me to agree about your sugar delusions. That’s propaganda anyway.
I eat fruits and even choke down vegetables of all sorts including their tops, if any. I even eat some fake meat but am lacking in fish but eat some salmon and Alligator too, oops, not a fish is it. now and then. More then than now though.
Although I don't doubt that you believe your pain is better when you don't indulge in a variety of the 5 food major and most important food groups, notably, cookies, candy, cakes, pies, and pastry.
I'm curious if it could be physiological?
I had a friend who always had headaches and other pains and strong pain medications. One day I put my theory to work and switched out all the opiods and replaced them with Tylenol which never worked before. I asked her 30 minutes later “how's your pain?” It's gone she said. Also she bought drops for all kinds of things. Did nothing for me but supposedly everything for her. Same with the copper (I think) infused clothes.
I may be tempting fate, I'm not sure. I'm more healthy than many of my friends who don’t eat much sugar. My worst nemesis is or rather was seizures which were probably caused by a kid hitting me in the head with a baseball bat but who knows?
Well speaking of, I'm going to go wack off a substantial piece of my 5 lb Hershey's chocolate bar. Those one ounce a day pieces Fl Mary (@imallears) recommended just weren't working out. She eats the icky dark chocolate and one ounce is likely all anyone can tolerate of that.
Maybe I'm just lucky not to be affected negatively by sweets, at least for the the time being, who knows. If they actually do have any negative effects which I doubt.
If you can stay away from sweets, more power to you. Maybe you could eat some vile dark chocolate like quite a few nuts on Connect do who don’t know the difference between good and bad.

John, I believe I discussed this in an earlier post. I participated in one of these trials through UIHC in Iowa City, IA just last summer. My neuropathy is definitely chemo induced. That was a requirement for participation. Now that covid (both the vaccine and the infection) appears to induce neuropathy, it seems that Niagen is also being tested for this as well. Good luck to all.
The jury is out still, but I have cut carbs and reduced sugar to only one fruit portion per meal (I love my fruit). If I could cut that down more it would help. I have had a reduction in stabbing pains over the past 3 days. This is encouraging. I will do anything to try to stop these pains. So far, it looks promising. I want to try to only have 2 fruits per day, breakfast and lunch and nothing at night so I might be able to sleep…..
The information to reduce PN pain is very valuable! We all have to pick and choose what we can live with and still feel like a real person. The food and the activities, what I wear, what I do, where I go, bla, bla bla can "get to me". I did not read whether decafe coffee is enough of a change in the amount of caffeine to be allowed?
Has anyone tried that? Thanks to all who contribute to this site.
@fala I eliminated caffeine and it was the single change that had the biggest effect. I moved to 100% decafe coffee and have 2 cups a day maximum. It was hard to give up coffee but worthwhile. It also means eliminating all energy drinks as they are typically high in caffeine
Thanks for the tip. I am slowly going that way. I am on 1/2 cafe and then will go to decafe. It is the chocolate (dark) that wlil be my downfall! Did you give that up as well?

Sounds like it's time to switch to milk chocolate since it contains less caffeine than dark chocolate and milk chocolate is tastier too.

Ok, I am hoping this is a one time event. But, I need feedback, please. Here is what happened last evening. I had a very busy day out with all kinds of frustration, hic-ups, long lines, no answers, etc. So, I get home ready to collapse and decide to have a beer ( about 6ish.) Really early. Wow, I actually felt the effects right away. If I do have any alcohol, it is about 10:00 but rare at that. When I sat down in my LR at about 8:00 my feet started screaming louder than usual at that hour. Lots of PAIN! My PN pain can get worse about that time, but not screaming. Seriously, was it the alcohol? I mean, one beer? Maybe because I was just running around all day, waiting ( standing) for long periods of time? I am not expecting a Medical answer, just wonder what you think or experienced? Thanks!
