Is there any immunity boosting meds?
I've had a second squamous cell cancer come back quickly in the same location. They said it could be due to an immuniosuppressive med (Budesonide) that I took for three months before the first one appeared. I'm now facing a second surgery. My thought is, will another one come behind that? Is there such a thing as an immune booster, i.e. infusion? Having a hard time dealing with the possiblity. This will be #6 total--others were in a different location and did not return there--thank God.

I've been using this for years: Bio-Immunozyme Forte
Have you asked your dermatologist? Did you spend much time in the sun in your youth? I’m a California sun worshiper. Rather I was. Now paying for that, and now prefer shade.
Have not asked the dermatologist--yet. They are to call me tomorrow about why it is taking two months to get a Mohs surgical appt. I did not intentionally get sun but we were kids with rural upbringing so there was a lot of outside activity. I do have fair skin, blue eyes... Also, back then, sunscreen was unheard of--I'm 76 now.
I'm not familiar with that but will do some research. Is it a pill?
Thanks.
Depending on where you live, there may be more than one
Moh’s surgeon available. My appointment took about a month to schedule, as I recall. In April I had what felt like a miniature horn in a squamous CC on the back of my 82 year old thin-skinned hand removed by Moh’s. Unfortunately that guy did the removal one day and stitched up the wound he made from it the following day. That’s what he demanded of all his patients! Not in the patient’s best interest! Perhaps more profitable for him? Have since learned of two other Moh’s surgeons in the area. Both complete their work in the same day. In case of future need I’ll try one of them.
I’m not taking any fancy meds which might cause SCC. In my youth I “worked on my tan.”
Remember that expression? Some work! Suggest looking to see if other Moh’s surgeons are available. Good luck!
Yes, it's a capsule. I order mine through Naturally Healthy Concepts (nhc.com) they do require you answer some questions before you can buy them.
I am using Budesonide (for sinus rinses) although i do take other inhalers with steroids for asthma. Sorry to hear.
I am trying to eat dark greens every day and bought just yesterday infrared lamp (far and near) just like what is used in acup offices
@fdixon63 I'm sorry to hear about the regrowth of the skin cancer. When you talk with the dermatologist, don’t be hesitant to ask good questions. 1. Did you get ‘clean margins’ when you removed the cancer? This is something the pathologist reports on to the doctor. If the margins weren’t ‘clean’, it means that some of the tissue was left behind. Getting clean margins is very difficult. You can also ask if there is an immune booster. What is the date of the next surgery?
Why have you been taking budesonide?
Thanks for the information. I was taking budesonide for microscopic colitis and it has helped a lot. I actually got a copy of the pathology report and it states ..."all margins are free of squamous cell carcinoma." They first set the surgery for Sept. 26 and I was devastated because of having to wait so long knowing this cancer is progressing at an accelerated rate. I sent my derm a portal message so I could cover all the things that concerned me. I even told them I was willing to travel, i.e. 3 hrs if necessary. The nurse called me the next AM and she used to work for a Mohs surgeon in a town about an hour and a half away. The surgery is scheduled for this Tues. I believe God put everyone in place to make this happen. Have a blessed day. Faye
@fdixon63 you also asked about immune boosting drugs. I found this article on Google Scholar which pretty much sums up the current thoughts:
