About to start Prolia: What's your experience?
Dr wants for me to start Prolia. I have been researching. Would like to know if anyone in this group is taking. Worry about side effects.

It is wonderful that we can support each other and learn all of this valuable information from the experiences each of us has in our journey to treat our osteoporosis. I understand that each of us reacts differently to these drugs. I am entering my sixth month on Reclast after refusing to get another injection of Prolia. I have constant muscle pain in both arms, but nothing like the pain in my muscles and joints that I was experiencing after my second injection of Prolia. I have not found any way to relieve the muscle pain except to reduce it by taking tylenol every six hours and ice packs. I do also rub aspercream on my arms. I am hoping the muscle pain diminishes in time. Please continue to share your experiences and knowledge. I really appreciate the support !!!!
I use Tiger balm that I got from CVS. It's menthol and helps. Not the one that says red on it. The dye stains clothing. Also use salonpas patches or ice/heat.
I had not heard of Tiger balm. I will get some and try it out. thank you so much for sharing this information !
Thank you so much for sharing this information. I have read your comments before and you seem very well informed ! I sure wish I had known this over a year ago when I started Prolia. I appreciate all of the wisdom you send on. Thank you
@hlp123 again. my comments were made without knowing your DEXA scores or fracture history. Just be careful when you stop Prolia to avoid an abrupt loss of bone density and resulting fractures. Some apparently stay on Prolia long term. Some go on to Reclast. Some go on Tymlo, Forteo or Evenity. I did not intend to make you worry about what you are doing!
I took prolia for 3 and a half years and started having trouble with my jaw. I stopped the prolia and am taking a sort of fosomax for 6 months, then will stop all this dangerous medicine and use more nuts and grains. My jaw bothers me less but the damage is done.
I understand and I appreciate your concern. I have turned to Reclast to prevent abrupt loss of bone density and resulting fractures. I made sure that I started the Reclast right when I was due to get my second Prolia injection. It is my hope that I can prevent any negative effects from stopping the Prolia with only one year of Reclast. I hope the very sore arm muscle pain I have with Reclast will fade with time.
Sounds good and good luck!
Thank you !
Good Luck to you also, with this journey we are on to do the best we can for our bones. I hope you will continue to share your experience ! I am anxious to learn all that I can !
I wish I had done all of this before getting involved with Prolia!
