The Paradox of Osteoporosis Irreversibility
This is a very interesting article. It addresses the calcium and protein needs for bone maintenance. I increased my protein consumption a few months back when I first read that it was as important as calcium since our bones are half protein, but this article explains things fully and suggests the amount we should be consuming. I think many people are not aware of the amount of protein they need to be having.

@contentandwell what was your hip DEXA? Curious. I recently read that more fractures happen with osteopenia, though the fracture rate is higher with osteoporosis. I think it's great you were able to do Tymlos first. Has it helped?
I'm posting this article from Harvard Health about protein and to remind us of the variety of sources. The body can actually make protein if it has the needed amino acids as well. I think that argues for a full and varied diet, along with direct protein consumption, and hoping it all balances out.

I was given a blood pressure med to treat osteoporosis because I had hypercalciurea, in which my kidneys were flushing too much calcium out of my body. A certain type of blood pressure med can help the body to hold in calcium. That’s how it was explained to me. That’s why I was prescribed chlorthalidone, even though I don’t have high blood pressure.
How low is your BP? When I take the meds my BP goes below 100. Then I really can not get anything done but rest. My CA is fine and so are all my other labs. They tried two BP meds and took me off a week later so their side effects. I still have four meds I am taking along with all their side effects. What does your BP run?
I don’t remember the numbers, but my BP is usually in the normal range. The hypercalciurea wasn’t diagnosed with regular lab tests. It was diagnosed with a 24-hour urine test. They give you a container to use at home for 24 hours, and then you bring it to the lab.
I had the 24 hour UA ran and I was in the normal range. But my blood CA runs right below normal high.

I'm getting ready to do the 24-hour urine test myself. Got my jug from the lab the other day. I also got a full battery of the recommended blood tests and am going to decide if to take medication and if so, which kind after a full consultation with Dr. Keith McCormick.
