Mysterious shortness of breath: What has helped you?

That's good that those tests came back normal. It's always a relief to know that there aren't issues with other aspects of your health. Do you take anything for the acid reflux? Some people have found relief of the breathing symptoms after dealing with reflux. Not everyone finds relief, but at least taking care of the reflux would be one less thing to deal with.

As far as your dogs, I would say it's possible they could be triggering symptoms, but I'm thinking more in terms of allergies than anything else. Do you have known pet or environmental allergies? How long have you had your dogs?

To the best of my knowledge I don't have any known allergies. I don't have a chronic sneeze, runny nose or post nasal drip. Generally, I don't cough a whole lot unless I have something in the back of my throat that would trigger a cough. I have some phlegm on occasion. I don't know if its abnormal amount or not. I find myself having to clear my throat regularly. Still have that air hunger phenomenon. Excessive yawning, every few minutes the desire to catch a deep breath.
I returned to the GP on Tuesday for a follow-up visit related to shortness of breath and GERD. After discussing my symptoms and a reasonably thorough check-up, he really couldn't identify any clear cause. Said my lungs sounded clear. In the end, we're still looking at GERD is a potential culprit. He changed the prescription from pantaprazole to rabeprazole. I wonder what is the difference between SOB sensation associated with GERD and esophagitis versus SOB asociated with COPD???
