I believe you are Barbara, is that correct? My experience at Mayo (Rochester) after self referral for living donor kidney transplant after approval at another center is to be very positive and proactive. I would follow up your Dr. referral with a call to their transplant unit. You will talk to someone initially and they would set up a call with a tx coordinator. You will need to have all your records sent to Mayo for all tests from other tx center, and from other screening tests like mammogram, pap, colonoscopy, etc. Each provider needs to be contacted and sent a signed release of information on their form. I bought a new fax/printer/scanner which made this process faster as they can fax the form to you, then you sign and fax it back. My donor did go fax one form, but a different form she mailed and it took over a week to go only about 120 miles. After they get your records, you may be able to have Zoom calls for a series of consultations. I did, but this was fall of 2020. You then will need to schedule in person testing for things they need in excess of what you had in CA. For me, this was three days at Mayo. All through this, I was determined and very positive, and ended up one of their fastest approvals to tx at that time. You need to develop a good rapport with your coordinator and be willing to do whatever asked quickly. Make their job easy! I started 09/07/20 and had my living donor transplant and bilateral nephrectomy 12/07/20. That included getting my donor’s consults, records, testing and approval done after mine. It can be done quickly if you are determined to make it happen! I drove to Mayo as it was 3 hrs. away, Best wishes! Jennifer
