It’s helpful to try and identify what causes your constipation like medications, stress, food. Eating spinach and greens helps me. Also eating a couple of prunes and some people find drinking prune juice helpful. When all else fails then resort to Smooth LAX found at Walgreens. Good luck!

Triphala, from my neighborhood natural food store, at night, along with a Magnesium capsule helps. Also, adding kale to my morning smoothie is beneficial. Triphala leaves for an evening tea are sometimes available too. It is bitter, though. (it's a combination of some fruits)

Teresa - I'm a senior who just became aware of a Walmart's Great Value product (Cleanse herbal tea supplement) that the label say contains the same 1080 mg. of senna leaf as Traditional Medicinal's Smoothe Move herbal tea mentioned in an earlier post here. Any one else who used it care to comment?

While I recover from a suspected new spinal compression fracture, I am considering temporarily stopping my calcium supplementation to reduce the constipation that seems to double my back pain. I'm also increasing my water consumption & prunes with occasional Miralax and stool softener. Activity is challenging due to the back pain & spasms. No more walks although pacing inside my aprtment seems to reduce the back pain.

It is challenging not get discouraged by all this.

My dietitian told me to take what I use (psyllium) at the same time everyday, she recommended in the morning. Perhaps at the same time very obvious to others, but it wasn't to me, and it did help.

It sounds gross but if you heat prune juice in the microwave with a spoon of butter it can have better results than regular laxatives and works faster. It is sold "lite" with less sugar in most supermarkets.

I might have to try that sometime. I always mix a little bit of orange juice with prune juice. It makes it easier to taste.

My gastro oncologist told me to take Miralax which I haven’t taken yet. My girl friend told me to eat prunes everyday so I eat at least 4 a day I find that helps.
Like you I get concerned if I don’t go every day.

Thinking about fiber, I just listened to Dr. Michael Greger's 5 minute snippet podcast about it.
